“Newlywed Game” and “Catch 21″ Begin New Seasons Tonight on GSN

We’ve had new game shows debuting just about every week since the beginning of September it seems.  Tonight GSN is adding its new seasons to the mix.  Two of its most popular games are back.  Newlywed Game with Carnie Wilson and Catch 21 with Alfonso Ribiero and Mikki Padilla return at 6:00PM ET and 6:30PM ET with replays later that night.  Both shows essentially stay the same from last season, but there’s a lot of celebrity going around each.

First, on Newlywed Game, as many of you are aware the first ever same sex couple will appear on the show Tuesday, October 13th at 6:00PM ET with an encore at 9:00PM ET.  Competing couples will be Christopher Knight and Adrianne Curry along side Damien Gurganius and wife Nicole Brewer.  Future celebrity shows include some Playboy playmates, more couples from The Biggest Loser, Survivor competitors, and soap stars.  65 episodes of the show will run.  Don’t forget that Bob Eubanks will return to host the show for one episode this season, and we’re hearing it’ll be the last episode of the season.  If it changes we’ll let you know.  This season removes the “Goldyweds” end game from the first season so we’ll get to see a slightly less edited show than the first season thankfully.

After that is the third season of Catch 21 (only the second GSN game show to hit more than two seasons ever).  Alfonso Ribiero returns as host with Mikki Padilla as dealer in the blackjack/trivia game for a $25,000 grand prize.  I haven’t heard if they will raise the prize at all this season like they did with the special $50,000 shows last season, so we’ll see.  Everything seems to be the same.  As we said before, celebrity shows are also showing up here.  These shows will feature Deal or No Deal models, Biggest Loser competitors, soap opera stars, child stars, and a special Fresh Prince of Bel Air reunion (sans Will Smith since he doesn’t need the money).  The show begins at 6:30PM ET with an encore at 9:30PM ET.

Both shows are pretty enjoyable, especially Catch 21, so glad to see them showing up again.
