The new syndicated season is really sneaking up on us and for the second year in a row, we have two new shows coming in addition to a whole load of returning ones. Here’s the list so far.
*Deal or No Deal: September 8th
*Who Wants to be a Millionaire?: September 8th
*Jeopardy!: September 8th
*Wheel of Fortune: September 8th
*Crosswords: September 8th
*Trivial Pursuit: September 22nd
The only one missing, as it seems to be every single year, is Family Feud but it’ll end up debuting some where in that range. Rest assured that it was renewed and it would be hard not to be with its ratings increase this year. Trivial Pursuit is being pushed by a big marketing campaign from Hasbro, and they are asking Denbar-Mercury to put some actual money into the show which was visibly missing from Crosswords and Temptation. You know what would be some nice marketing from Hasbro? To actually come out and say what the show is and give people some insight into it more than a few days before it debuts like the two rookies last year did. The lack of anything from them is alarming. Temptation hasn’t even officially been canceled yet but it’s a safe bet to assume so. Such a waste, isn’t it?

Glad to see that “Trivial Pursuit” is a firm go. I’m looking forward to that one. Hopefully, one of the stations in my neck of the woods will pick it up, along with season two of “Crosswords” (none of the stations around here had season one).

Any word on tryout info for Trivial Pursuit? Maybe a little early in the game, but it doesn’t hurt to check!

I don’t even think Trivial Pursuit has its own website yet other than for the board game. As far as Temptation goes, let’s just pray that it gets cancelled. And, James, if you’re trying out, then I’m with you, bro.

I hope season two fo Crosswords improves. And to all you Crosswords fans, enjoy it while you can because this is likely to be the final season. I hope that WSVN does not pick up this show because I hate that station just because it constantly interrupts regular programming.

What did Feud’s ratings look like for this year? Did it break 2.0?

Now wait Adam, if Crosswords does improve along with the ratings, who’s to say it will be the last season?!
Also, I wonder what Jeopardy has in mind for ITS milestone 25th year in syndication! I know it’ll tape shows at the 2009 CES show, but has any more info come out about it’s season?

There are two preview videos up on Youtube of Trivial Pursuit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tCIbZAgY66k is a link to one of them. These were actually sale presentation videos, but they also act as previews of sorts. I don’t know if it will work as a show, but it sure seems that they’re putting some real money behind the show as Hasbro asked.

Feud always returns. Its one of those shows that could go on the air forever. I just wish they up the jackpot. Or even bring back the Bullseye game to allow families to create bigger jackpots. $20k doesnt seem much anymore these days, and the average amount families win is $40k.
Im looking forward to see the Al Roker Celebrity Feud shows on NBC this summer.
Temptation had potential. But its like the saying goes “if it aint broke, dont fix it”. They should have stuck with the Australian format and pumped more money into the show. If it does return, i hope they do turn it around.
This year will be an interesting one for Television in America. There wasnt a TV year to speak of in 07-08 with the writers strike and everything. We go Digital in 2009. DOND comes to Daytime. As much as i want a long and relaxing summer, Im ready for September.

Is there a place or website where we can find out what stations have cleared Trivial Pursuit? I specifically get stations from Louisville, KY and Lexington, KY, but in all the websites that have any information about the show, none of them mention specific stations other than the obvious NY, LA, and Chicago. They also mention about all the FOX owned and operated stations plus several groups that own various affiliates of different networks around the country. We have several of those different groups here so it could be any one of them, and I’m sure one of them has probably cleared the show but no one around this area seems to know.

I’ll give Crosswords another chance this fall. There’s a good game within the presentation — the presentation and kinks within the show need to be corrected. From what it sounds like, Ritch Colbert and Program Partners do seem interested in correcting what’s wrong — we’re just hopeful that they correct what needs to be fixed and nothing else.
As far as Temptation goes, I have a feeling that 20th and Fremantle are looking for a cable outlet to carry the show. Unfortunately, this show is more about the home shopping element than actual game. Hope shopping games have never worked in syndication and network TV (Home Shopping Game, Bargain Hunters), but it may work on a cable channel that doesn’t have the ratings pressure that over-the-air channels do.

Tom, I called Debmar Mercury, and asked someone from their promotions department. Might want to try there.
Right now in Norfolk, it’s going on WTVZ, which airs “Temptation” and “Family Feud” in a two-hour block between noon and 2. I’m guessing “Trivial Pursuit” goes in “Temptation”’s old time slot.

Alex, there’s a post on GameShowNewsNet.com that says that Family Feud is indeed returning on Sept. 8. It’s dated June 2, and titled “The Countdown to Fall is Officially On…” It’s in the last paragraph of the post.

I’m looking forward to syndicated DOND and Trivial Pursuit mostly along with season 2 of crosswords which i hope they up the prize money. At least $10,000 and a trip.

Looking at the recent ratings, Ryan, it has been at 2.0 most of the season. I’m also with you on upping the prize money on X-words, Scott. $5000 is too little even for a syndicated game show, $10000 is a good prize money, and I also hope they do this…..returning champions and, possibly, a Crosswords Tournament of Champions a’la Jeopardy. No spoilers, just 2 contestants the entire show. As for Temptation…I believe you’ve seen the last of it unless a cable network like GSN picks it up. Reason being is that I went on the show’s website the other day and it’s been replaced by an entertainment site. And, Tom? There’s no website for Trivial Pursuit yet. They’ll probably set it up by the end of the month.

Hi all,
For those of you interested in Trivial Pursuit-America Plays, I have some news. We are starting our “Question Tour”, where US residents can ask questions and become a part of “America’s Team”. If your question is used on a show, you become part of ‘America’s Team” for that show and could win hundreds of dollars for it.
We are going to be at the following venues during the week of June 9-June 15:
June 10- Licensing Fair, Javits Convention Center, New York City, NY
June 11- Paramus Park Mall, Paramus, NJ (11A-7P)
June 12- Woodbirdge Center, Woodbridge, NJ (11A-7P)
June 13- Natick Mall, Natick, MA (Outside of Boston) (1P-9P)
June 14- Natick Mall, Natick MA (Outside of Boston) (11A-7P)
* Please note- Times are approximate- Check with the mall for any changes
All you need to do is come to an event, fill out a release and information sheet, and ask your question(s). Then start watching the show on September 22 and see if your question pops up. I’ll post more information about future events in the coming weeks. Thanks for all your interest in the show. And if you want to be a contestant, auditions will begin in July and tapings begin in August. Once the website and information is available for that, I will post that as well. Good luck everyone.- TPAP

So, TrivialPursuitGuy……..
Can the questions be about ANY subject, or are they just limited to the standard six categories on a Trivial Pursuit board?

Questions can be about ANY topic or subject. Remember, questions which have a play along value for most or all of the audience are better than those that only cater to a very select few.

I hate to have bad news, but I can confirm as of now, Temptation will be back for season 2. Talked to my local CW station (that is airing it instead of MyNet as it is in many other markets) and they have season 2 starting Sept 15th.
