New MTV Game Show “Silent Library” Debuts June 15th

MTV really seems to be getting back into the game show business, don’t they?  They’ve been airing The Phone recently which has been an entertaining little show.  Next up is a format from 2waytraffic called Silent Library, modeled after a popular Japanese game show.  This one’s also a stunt-like show.  Basically, a group of people are in a library and have to take part in a stunt which would normally make them be loud most likely, but it’s taking place in a library so they have to be quiet or they get no money for the challenge.  Yeah, it’s not the greatest show on earth, but it’s just supposed to be a comedy.  It’s a dumb show, but I got a good laugh out of it.  It’s not appointment television for me but if it came on I’d leave it on for sure.  It’s in MTV’s comedy block and it made me laugh.  I’m pretty sure that’s the goal of the show; correct me if I’m wrong.  Take a look.  Silent Library debuts June 15th at 6:00PM ET.

sorry, the humor just seemed way too forced, the clips of the japanese show on youtube are much funnier.

  • lexprod says:

I'm with marc, this looks like total acting, especially with the world's weakest challenge. This is nothing compared to an automatic face-slapper.

  • zKazama says:

I worked on this show – I can tell you that the stunts they're previewing are NOTHING to what we actually did. We do use the slapping machine…and then some. Had to cut one from the episodes cuz the guys ass was bleeding afterwards.

  • Now doesn't that sound like appointment television?

I played a runthrough of this at MTV. It sucks.

  • Anderson Nakamura says:

Having watched the Japanese version. i would say this is just a really sad attempt to copy a funny idea, ill give you a play by play rundown why this vesion sucks.

1.The 'contestants" are over acting too much. i mean, they just look pathetic. DONT TRY TOO HARD!!. they play on the "what we're doing is so hilarious,we're the coolest people ever."

2.whats up with the host explaining what the penalty is. the real version didnt explain shit, they just put stuff like "unwitted"
or "grandpa bites tenderly" . IT KEPT US GUESSING WHAT IT WAS UNTIL THEY DO THE PENALTY.

    3. Why do they even need a host. seriously? and whats up with the whole serious look? like he has no emotions and shit.

    4. THEY SHOULD PUT REAL PEOPLE THAT ARENT REALLY HAPPY WHEN THEY LOSE TO THE CARD GAME AND HAVE TO DO THE CHALLENGE. ITS SUPPOSED TO BE A DAMN PENALTY FOR THE LOSER.

All im saying is, if they want to rip off a succesful show, at least do a decent job at it. and honestly i was actually psyched when MTv said they're bringing this show in north america. but this is not even sub par at best. this is just crap. Cancel it
