New GSN Schedule Effective March 31st

We normally don’t post schedule updates unless it’s something major.  This is major.  GSN is doing some extreme shuffling and pulling some shows out of their vault, including a newer one that I think I’m the only one that likes it.  Be prepared, it’s a lot.  All of these are effective March 31st at 9AM ET.

*Love Connection replaces Newlywed Game at 9:00AM ET
*Blockbusters (Bill Cullen edition) replaces Love Connection at 9:30AM ET
*Tic Tac Dough replaces Let’s Make A Deal at 10:00AM ET
*Wheel of Fortune replaces Press Your Luck at 10:30AM ET
*Let’s Make A Deal replaces Wheel of Fortune at 11:00AM ET
*Press Your Luck replaces Tic Tac Dough at 11:30AM ET
*Card Sharks stays at 1:30PM ET, but the Eubanks version will air during the week of the 31st.  After that, they are going back to the Perry version.
*This is a big one.  One of my personal favorites, Friend or Foe, replaces I’ve Got A Secret at 3:30PM ET.  Sorry, I just like backstabbing shows.
*The Anne Robinson edition of Weakest Link replaces both the George Gray Weakest Link and Chain Reaction from 4:00PM to 5:00PM.
*Russian Roulette replaces Lingo at 6:00PM ET
*Bingo America replaces Weakest Link at 7:00PM ET.  Lingo airs at 7:30PM ET
*World Poker Tour will repeat Mondays at midnight, replacing an airing of Millionaire

Now for the weekends…..
*How Much is Enough? replaces Weakest Link weekends at 3:30PM ET
*Russian Roulette replaces That’s The Question at 4:00PM ET
*Bingo America replaces How Much is Enough? at 4:30PM ET
*World Poker Tour repeats Sundays at 7:00PM ET, replacing one airing of Greed.
*Saturdays have an hour of Richard Karn Family Feud at 9:00PM ET.  Sundays have Lingo.
*Russian Roulette replaces Weakest Link weekends at 10:00PM ET.
*Whammy! replaces Chain Reaction weekends at 10:30PM ET.
*Saturdays at 11:30PM ET have Chain Reaction.  Sunday is Karn Feud.

Primetime is pretty crazy.  These are all the main daytime/weekend changes.  To save on clutter and the seizure you may have while reading this all, under the page break is the entire daytime lineup as well as the primetime schedule.  It’s a big one, be careful, but it’s worth it if you’re a regular viewer.

I was never a fan of Russian Roulette or Friend or Foe. Not the changes in the lineup I would have liked to have seen, but to GSN’s credit, they’ve had MUCH worse lineups. I think they’re finding a good balance to please all the right demos in the right time slots.

  2. 2 Tim Tender Mar 14th, 2008 at 7:39 pm

I said in the Russian Roulette thread that I also liked Friend or Foe, but never got to watch it all that much. It’s exciting.

I’m glad they’re trying to keep it different and bringing back some older games.

    Bravo!

  3. 3 Todd Mar 14th, 2008 at 8:13 pm

I am so excited they are bringing Friend or Foe back.

  4. 4 KBGUY09 Mar 14th, 2008 at 8:14 pm

So no more That’s The Question anywhere on the schedule? I really liked that show…

  5. 5 Julia Mar 14th, 2008 at 8:30 pm

I like this schedule. They moved TTD and Wheel out of the way of TPiR on the Eastern feed, plus they removed TTQ and added FoF and RR. All in all, a really great schedule. A good mix of the old and the new. Not happy that TTQ is off the schedule, though. Is their any news about a renewal for it? They spent a good amount on set and good writers this season, and it paid off because it’s a very fun show to watch with a good play at home element.

FoF coming back…well, I’m happy. Even though it wasn’t my favorite of the Bob Boden era shows, it was one of the more inventive of them. Finally realizing that their library of shows from when they were averaging a 0.7 are actually worth replaying is a good sign.

  6. 6 Quincy Hughes Mar 14th, 2008 at 8:55 pm

Well, I don’t need to see FoF anymore, but at least they’re bringing that one back and not that ultimate trash that was “Cram”. Too bad to see TTQ be gone, likely for good this time. I also have already noticed that “How Much is Enough” is pretty much completely off the schedule, it’s not even airing during the week now anymore. Not a good show anyway. I’m glad TTD is still around, and I always did like RR too. No problems with the schedule here!

  7. 7 LaJuan Mar 14th, 2008 at 10:54 pm

I loved TTQ from day one AND I was starting to actually like How Much. Shame. I loved FoF and RR a ton so I’m glad they’re both back at least. But I have to agree with you, Quincy. Not even the hottie Icelandic (i think?) chick would make me watch that show.

  8. 8 Chris Mar 15th, 2008 at 6:18 pm

Why don’t they just make some new episodes of FoF and Russian Roulette? I love them dearly, but if they realize that these concepts are good enough to air again, they really should realize that new episodes would only drive their ratings higher.

  9. 9 CJ Mar 15th, 2008 at 8:22 pm

Still no Combs Feud. It stinks that my favorite version of Feud will continue to not be seen on the network.

Just when they were getting into the “New” Feud episodes. Oh well, at least I got to see Opryland.

  10. 10 Chris Parsley Mar 15th, 2008 at 10:54 pm

thats cause it cost $X to reair already done episodes, while it costs $x*x*x*x to do new eps :)

  11. 11 David Howell Mar 16th, 2008 at 8:46 am

It might also be that they’re testing the water before seeing if new episodes is going to be a profitable endeavour.

GSN have realised that they messed up the last few years. The revival starts here?

  12. 12 Sharon Baxley Mar 16th, 2008 at 11:54 am

While I like watching GSN, the late night schedule is really not good, I’m used to seeing “Triva Trap” and “Now You See It” now its a three hour pokerfest …why?

  13. 13 grinch3 Mar 16th, 2008 at 12:11 pm

I am sick of the reruns of Millionaire,Dog Eat Dog,Greed and The Weakest Link.
A suggestion when GSN is re-doing its Prime-time and late evening schedule -
Bring back some shows that haven’t been seen in primetime and latenight like
    Match Game 90
To Tell the truth (90’s version)

It will be good to see Russian Roulette again .

  14. 14 Quincy Hughes Mar 16th, 2008 at 12:29 pm

Sharon: The poker’s only on Monday nights, and weekend overnights don’t have TT and NYSI either. That matches the current schedule. Not so bad!

  15. 15 Xavier Mar 16th, 2008 at 3:11 pm

Yeah, most of the overnight schedule is great. Rarities like NYSI, TT, All Star BTC, Body Language, Double Dare with Trebek, and of the course the B&W goodies get to see the light again. This is all better than Playmania everynight.

  16. 16 DB Mar 17th, 2008 at 7:00 am

Happy to see the old B&W IGAS is still around and that most recent monstrosity is gone. Hopefully for good. Otherwise, it’s not that bad of a schedule. Would rather see Dawson’s or Combs Feud over Karn’s anyday though…

  17. 17 glenn Mar 17th, 2008 at 1:05 pm

RR is the best of the originals and Whammy has been over rerun abused (season 1 ever seeing light of day makes it rerun abuse)so this is exciting to come back (IMHO RR is better than even Lingo shoulda gone into syndie)

FOF was a good idea that just fell flat due to poor pacing

but they avoided the real crap of that era wintuition (1 it was a make the grade rip off and adult rip offs of kids shows never work, 2 it wasted marc summers to the point he’s completly sold his soul to the food network and 3…IT WAS DULL!) and cram (more trashy than britney spears on a bender)

Only real complaint is more cullen blockbusters…that needs to take a rest, I think i know every question before it’s asked. Moving TTD away from the price is right is promising. other complaint is keeping camoflauge hanging around (unless they are talking about the chuck barris train wreck from the early 80s which would just be ummm interesting :-P)

Karn feud was ok once they dropped the STUPID 1 strike triple round, show those seasons and you got a deal. 1 strike triple round is the real reason i never EVER want to see Anderson feud stinking up GSN EVER (that and Louie Anderson had all the personality of a brick!)

  18. 18 Devon Mar 18th, 2008 at 1:20 pm

Wow!! This is incredible. Russian Roulette is getting a lot of exposure which is excellent and with the return of Friend or Foe, this offically puts the seal of excellence on GSN’s schedule. It’s like 2002 all over again..to some degree. At least it will be if Cram and The Joker’s Wild return if at all. lol

  19. 19 Steve Mar 18th, 2008 at 3:27 pm

Lets not forget one other thing, GSN is under not only new managment,BUT also new owners (Liberty Media), this might not be the last of the changes made

  20. 20 Xavier Mar 18th, 2008 at 8:06 pm

Liberty has been around since 2001. They own half of GSN while Sony owns the other half.
