NBC Releases Preview of “Who’s Still Standing?”
People who are looking forward to NBC’s upcoming quiz show Who’s Still Standing? are in luck. The network has released its first minute-long trailer to the Ben Bailey hosted million dollar quiz show where not being able to answer questions means you fall through a hole in the floor. The show debuts Monday, December 19th, at 8:00PM ET as a week long event. The preview shows off the set, the drops, and the vibe the show is going for. Plus lots and lots of cash. Check it out below.
A few small things. One: I have some fears about the show. It’s a relatively decently paced quiz show which is nice. We don’t have anything like it on American TV right now which is nice. But it’s not a Millionaire ripoff nor is it a Deal or No Deal ripoff. It has its own format. That hasn’t worked out for most game shows over the past decade or so. Hopefully this one can change it.
Second: I’m a sucker for the drop and this is clearly as close as we’re going to come to a Russian Roulette revival, so I’m going to enjoy it. However, they’re making their gimmick into a joke in these previews and I don’t know if that’s smart. Without the drop it’s a fairly boring quiz show. When you make the big interesting thing in your show into a massive joke, no one will take it seriously. Russian Roulette managed to keep the mood somewhat light with the drop but still make it seem scary. If it were me, that’s how I would have tried to showcase the show.
But that’s not a deal breaker in the least. Looking forward to the show’s debut on December 19th at 8:00PM ET on NBC.

I can’t watch it every time I try it says Failed to load XML file.
Yeah, same issue here. And going to the show’s website for the video doesn’t work, either.
It was working up until a little bit ago. If it fixes itself I’ll update.
This still looks interesting. Fear Factor one Monday and Still Standing the next. NBC really wants my viewership and I hope they get a lot more.
*waits for Friend or Foe remake*
Agreed, but I sense a scheduling conflict.
Right now, NBC’s website lists both Fear Factor and Who’s Still Standing? as airing on Mondays 8/7c, but we know for a fact that Who’s Still Standing has its Series Premiere on Monday December 19th at 8/7c. So after its Season Premiere on Dec. 12th, either Fear Factor is moving to Mondays at 9/8c right after Who’s Still Standing, or it’s moving to a completely different day altogether, which will confuse everyone wanting to watch it.
NBC doesn’t know how to be consistant, do they?
The video is fixed.
A useless trailer but good enough to learn the game.
They say a “week long event” and “$4,000,000″ on the line” and “$1,000,000 for dropping all 10 challengers”
Put that together and you do not get a “decently paced quiz show” as that only allows for four shows with up to 10 questions each, which is a 4-night event. Or am I missing something here?
Either way, I’m glad to see this show come to air and I can only hope they figure out the bad parts such as pacing, those 10 challengers never getting a chance to be the main player, etc. and possibly bring the show back for a nice run in the summer.
Seeing as how the Executive Producers of Who’s Still Standing? are the same Executive Producers that created Minute to Win It and turned it into a “Girls Gone Wild” drama show, we may be in trouble. Nevertheless, I will tune in for the weeklong premiere.
It’s going to continue all through January as well.
Does this special “weeklong premiere Christmas event” remind anyone of Million Dollar Money Drop?
I just hope this show does NOT use the contestants that were on the first week of Million Dollar Money Drop, WHICH I hope is revived soon, OR any contestant coordinator telling these contestants how to act.
When the Hero faces a Challenger (Stranger), they alternate answering questions until someone misses. There is a time limit (about 15 or 20 seconds) to answer each question.
If the Stranger misses, they are gone. The Hero is given a chance to pass on a question twice during the entirety of their game. After that, the Hero is out on a missed question.
This means many questions can be asked for each duel between Hero and Stranger.
After the Hero is dropped or walks away, any remaining Strangers play a Speed Round to build up a pot that is given to the last Stranger standing.
now I see what i’ve missed, but still with $4m on the line, sounds to me like one game per show, which will only slow it down…really though, i’m excited to see this.
Yawn, I’d rather see Mark L back doing Russian Roulette myself. Better game and use of the gimmick (and the 6 shooter set was awesome)
I hope this ends up being really good. I was sad last year about how Million Dollar Money Drop went in spite that I loved it and wanted there to be a DVD game, PC Game, Handheld or video game of it. I hope this show becomes successful and makes another network say ABC or CBS revive Russian Roulette.
The clip is region locked. any way for us in Canada to see it?
