Today, NBC announced the layoff of 700 jobs in order to save money. Not only that, NBC television division chief executive Jeff Zucker stated that the 8PM-9PM time slot will no longer be scheduled for dramas or sitcoms. The network will now air reality or game shows in that area. This is all part of a plan to save $750 million this year, and by looking at some costs, they could do it. Take, for instance, the cost it takes to make an episode of the relatively low rated “Friday Night Lights”: $2.6 million. The cost for the extremely high rated “Deal or No Deal”: $1.1 million. Yes, for every episode of “Friday Night Lights”, they can make two episodes of “Deal or No Deal”. Looking at how “1 vs. 100″ will, most likely, give away even less, they could probably do three episodes of Bob Saget’s new game show for that amount.
Right now, though, no NBC game shows are confirmed. “Identity” has been said to be for NBC, but we are waiting for official confirmation on that one.

Well they pick up crap like DoND so you have a pretty good chance of your stuff getting picked up.

Did you see this?
“NBC plans to air “Deal or No Deal” and the new game show “1 vs. 100” five days a week at 7. “My Name is Earl” and “The Office” stay where they are on Thursday. But like everything in TV, that could change.”

Is this correct? (Assuming they mean 7 pm central, 8 pm eastern and pacific.)

I like deal or no deal and 1 vs 100 but more than twice a week in primetime could burn out the show. three a week a few weeks is fine but 5 a week is going to burn out the show. although I remember though when Millionare was on for 4 nights it was high in the ratings and then when it went to Mon and Thurs ABC worst nights at that time it was the downfall of millionare so maybe airing it 4-5 a week could be a different story. twice a week is what it should be perferrly dond on mon and wed because that is where it was hot last year. maybe at midseason NBC should run DOND on Wed and then 1 vs 100 after that and then Medium that should help NBC on Wed.
