NBC Launches “Who’s Still Standing?” Tonight at 8:00PM ET on NBC

It’s about time we had another big money quiz show on primetime TV.  NBC is debuting their newest show, the quiz show Who’s Still Standing?, tonight at 8:00PM ET.  Ben Bailey hosts one Hero playing against ten strangers in individual head-to-head trivia battles.  The loser falls through a hole in the floor.  If the Hero can beat all ten people (s)he will win $1,000,000.  The previews sent out have been hit or miss, but the last one made me slightly more optimistic.  Optimistic enough for me to flip between it and the Steelers game.  We’ll see if it can keep up.  Be sure to comment and let us know what you think.  Read our Twitter page to hear live commentary of the episode.

The questions featured on this show were WAY too easy. Russian Roulette is looking better by the minute. I’ll still give this a chance, though.

They should call this programme “One Way To Leave A Game Show.”

  • Ken says:

Definitely the worst game show on network TV since Amne$ia.

A format that could have been devised by a 5-year old, irritating contestants, low payoffs, and the slowest “speed” round in the history of the genre (Jim Perry could have conducted 5 Speed Rounds by the time it was over).

I have no desire to watch the rest of the week. 2 out of 10.

    I only gave this a 3 out of 10, because of 3 positives…

    1) the drops (yea, it is a guilty pleasure)

    2) the host (Ben is doing an okay job with the crap he was given)

    3) the speed round (the only good thing worth watching)

This is my 2nd time posting on this site after posting yesterday about “Who’s Still Standing” and that is what I’m posting today about. After looking at Tuesday’s episode, I think there needs to be a lesson taught about editing, when the Speed Round winner said she wanted to drop through the door, did you notice that she was already off the trap door? The next thing we saw happen is the fact that they showed her dropping. Ok, other critical comments about tonight’s show, when the hero used her pass on the answer “Sidekick” and then said the answer, she pretty much gave the answer away to the stranger (really didn’t matter, the stranger lost).

I think the same way a few folks have posted here in this forum, the game is WAAAAY too slow for an hour, perhaps it will fit better in a 30 minute format if they get rid of the fluff (for instance, repeating the questions after a commercial break or having the at home contest). The speed round was kind of interesting, one thing I noticed so far in 2 nights you can tell that the hero will take his/her winnings after 5 strangers drop because if they are fitting the show in an hour, there would be no way the remaining 5 strangers will finish the game in 15 minutes or so (when it took almost 45 minutes to get rid of the first 5 strangers). I would hope someone from NBC are reading these comments to make the game more interesting and again they are going to breaks in the middle of a question, that’s not good!
