Posted by Alex Davis as 1 vs. 100, American Gladiators, NBC
Episodes of shows are really winding down because of the writer’s strike, but NBC has an answer at least people on this site might like: more game shows! Two in particular will make people excited: 1 VS 100 and American Gladiators.
We originally stated 1 VS 100 is returning on January 11th. They apparently bumped this up to January 4th. Be on the lookout for a special game on episode one. It’s going to be a battle of the sexes. One man VS 100 women and then one woman VS 100 men. As for the rest of the season, all I can say is be sure to watch it. It’s clear NBC doesn’t have a lot of faith in this show for some reason. People really need to keep their eyes glued to the set if they want it to return for more episodes. 1 VS 100 will replace Deal or No Deal on Fridays at 8PM ET. Only bad news about 1 VS 100: they redid the prize structure again. Seriously guys, the 4th change? The
last one you had was just fine. Unless you halved the money like the Aussie version, I don’t see why you need a change.
Also, as stated before, we have American Gladiators starting on Monday, January 7th (one day later than previously announced). It replaces Chuck, which just got a full season order, at 8PM ET. Hulk Hogan and Leila Ali host the show with most or all of the events being revived from the old version. Taping just started.

That picture you have of AG is clearly during the Gauntlet event, which I wasn’t terribly fond of. All I have to say is that as long as they kept Assault, this show is going to rock.
On a side note, I’ve seen the commercials that NBC is airing to promote the show. Am I the only one who noticed that the lead gladiator at the end (the blonde one who adjusts his neck) looks suspiciously similar to Michael O’Dell of Battle Dome?

another change to 1 vs 100 I like it the way it is but maybe they will have an escape option or something. I am glad though that 1 vs 100 is coming back. I really think that Deal should be on Mon and Wed. American Gladiators on Sun and 1 VS 100 on Fridays. I also want The Singing Bee brought back which i was shocked that i like The Singing Bee.

The Singing Bee has a home ame now so I expect it will be brought out of the mothballs soon enough. If any show needs a change to the prize structure and format, it is Singing Bee.
Alex, what are the changes to 1 vs 100? Please share…

Well, I’m excited for 1 Vs. 100 and American Gladiators, but disappointed to hear Chuck is getting bumped. Wonder if that’s because of the writer’s strike or if NBC didn’t have enough confidence in it to order a full season from the get-go? I guess the fact that it’s been re-ordered is good enough.
I can’t wait to see 2008’s Eliminator.

According to Futoncritic.com, NBC is bringing back Singing Bee on the 21st and 28th of December. Then after that, who knows what will happen to it.

I am wishing the best for both 1 Vs. 100 and Gladiators. I don’t care much for Leila Ali and her voice, but Hogan should do fine. I just wish they would have gotten Mean Gene Okerlund to do interviews.
And yes, That is Micheal O’Dell from Battle Dome. He was originally Thor on AG back in 1994-5, however he was used on the tours and never put on TV.

If NBC doesn’t have any faith in 1v100, why don’t they give it to ABC. NBC should look at their audience, and not treat 1v100 for granted. Fox took the Rick List for granted.

O’Dell and T-Money were the best parts of Battle Dome. Glad to see him back. They aren’t getting Terry Crews back since he’s actually into real acting now.

Good News, indeed!
AG could be really fun and exciting from what we’ve heard so far. I still wonder about those changes in the payouts on 1 vs. 100, but it should still great!

DXSSI, it seems nowadays, networks don’t give full season orders right out of the gate for new shows. I like Chuck a lot too and was glad to hear it got a full season pick up. Then only got to film 13 episodes pre strike though even though they had an order for 19 before it started.
Glad to see 1 vs 100 back finally. I dunno why NBC doesn’t have faith in it. It’s a decent show. And why change it? They had it right last season. Oh well. Shouldn’t complain too much sinc e it’s taken forever to come back.
Kinda curious about the new American Gladiators. Should be interesting to see how that goes.

There seems to be a bit of confusion on the start date of American Gladiators. I’m wicked excited for both by the way. On the NBC American Gladiators site it still says it premiers on Sunday the 6th. However, I’ve been following updates of it on another site and according to that site it does premier on Sunday for two hours, and then there will be another episode on Monday the 7th at 8:00PM EST.
And from what I hear, quite a few of the old events are coming back. Some of them are played above water, which is pretty neato. The water reminds me a lot of the challenges on Dog Eat Dog. I thought they had some awesome challenges, so I bet its going to be even better than that. Or something.
