NBC Cuts Thursday “Deal or No Deal”

Thank god, NBC finally got the hint. NBCUMV sent me a press release when I was sleeping apparently, and it states that the Thursday 9PM episode of “Deal or No Deal” is being replaced by two very funny shows: “Scrubs” and “30Rock”. So as it stands, we only have the Monday episode of “Deal or No Deal”, which is pulling in terrific ratings. “Deal”, NBC’s number one rated show of last week, pulled in a 9.7/15.

As if anyone wants my opinion, but here’s my suggestion: Move around the Friday lineup. That game show block of “Deal or No Deal” and “1 vs. 100″ seems to be extremely strong and popular, so I think it would be smartest to stick with that. However, if they wanted to stick with just one “Deal” a week on Mondays at 8PM, that would be fine too. That would prevent burnout. However, one has to wonder why they removed “Deal or No Deal” on Thursdays with two comedies that are just not doing very well in the ratings. “Deal” is their best shot at getting respectable ratings on Thursday. Is this move just a chance for NBC to hush the critics who are criticizing their only game and reality show at 8PM mandate?

EDIT: I don’t know how I forgot this. Thanks to Laurie. These changes occur November 30th, so a few more weeks of Thursday “Deal or No Deal”.

Hey Alex, keep in mind what network we’re dealing with on this… NBC. But I think that they did a good job in removing it on Thrusdays because of the competition going on at the other networks; CSI on CBS, Grey’s Anatomy on ABC and Friends on TBS. Whatever comedies that are going south and are going on at 9 is excellent. It will still give those shows a chance rather than canning them quicker than a new FOX sitcom.

Is that effective this week? That will be kinda confusing since NBC has not updated the website to note that change.

I am hoping that they will have it on Mon and Wed at 8p.m. Pacific 7 p.m. Central Time last year it did the best on Mon and Wed and Wed i hear is NBC worst night.

I love scrubs. In the bay area, it is syndicated on two network (not to mention WGN and Comedy Central Syndicating the reruns too). I think NBC is making a wise choice with this show at least.
