So yeah, there’s been like nothing remotely newsworthy going on. All that’s a tiny bit interesting is that Chuck Woolery is going to be a backup singer on Don’t Forget the Lyrics! this season, and that Jeopardy! is being made for the Playstation 3. Beyond that, really nothing is going on. But we do have a few notes.
*My Family’s Got GUTS starts tonight at 8:00PM ET on Nick. Check if out if you get the chance; it looks to be interesting. It doesn’t seem like they screwed it up too badly which is a miracle for revivals today.
*Later this week we’ll be having a post about some new strategies that future contestants on Who Wants to be a Millionaire? this season might want to check out.
*Our Grand Slam feature is still happening next month. We’ve just been looking at ways to make it work and be remotely interesting. And not take a ton of time to finish.
*Starting next week, though, we’ll be doing a big feature on Whose Line is it Anyway?. Yeah, it’s like 1% game show if not a half a percentage less, but that’s good enough for me. Especially since the US version turned 10 years old in August, and the show turned 20 years old internationally this month. We’ll be posting our top (insert number here) favorite clips as well as potentially getting interviews with some former cast members of the show.
However, for now, if you have anything to say about tonight’s GUTS premiere, use this box to do it. PDFs are updated too!

I already have my tv set 2 record it. I just hope that this isn’t gonna be a let down like Wild and Crazy Kids was a few years back

That reminds me, with Whose Line (which I fucking LOVE but hate that its on at midnight and idk when its on now), you have to put up the clip of Ryan breaking the light with his head! Its AWESOME!

WOW! This show is a nice breathe of fresh air in this era of game shows that try way too hard to be cool like “Hole In The Wall”, “American Gladiators”, etc.
The first thing I notice is they have the remix version of the original theme which I think is awesome.
Also all the events that the families do look fun, seriously I wish I could do them. They have a nice bit of variety going on.
I thought the hosts were great and looked like they were getting in to it and having fun which is immensily important.
The set is awesome. While the set is dark in places the colors that they uses in other set pieces more than make up for it and if I dare say this is one of the best sets I’ve seen in a long time.
My only complaint is I wish it was a hour long.
Overall what a amazing job. Bravo Nick! 10/10

I missed the first half of the show; I tuned in in the middle of Flying Football. But the first thing I thought of was “It’s as if the show had never left the air.”
Bravo, Nickelodeon! Bravo!

I only have 2 complaints:
1) Only 2 events before the Crag? Can’t you at least squeeze in a third one?
2) The lack of actuators on the Crag…I always loved those!

Ilike it, not as good as the orgional
1) i feel like there should be 3 families, but if that were the case, then they couldn’t play flying football. :P
2) i felt like there were too few events before the craig. there is no way there would be 4 before the craig so i agree that there should be 3 before the craig.
3) Love the Craig.
4) didn’;t get to see event #1 ’cause i forgot about the show
5) the girl reminds me of moa quirk. Love the hosts love the theme(again, reminds me of the origional).
8/10 from me.

They should have each family member do a solo event and then a 5th event involves 2 family members and then the crag with the other 2 and 4 the finals the 4 events and the crag with a 4 members

Wow. WOW. All I can say is WOW.
One of THE best game show revivals on television EVER. Nickelodeon did NOT screw this one up. Bravo!
The Extreme Arena, the Aggro Crag (way better than I thought it would be), the 2 families (I’ll get used to that), the remixed GUTS theme song, and even better, the chemistry betwixt host and referee remains intact. THIS is how you revive a Nickelodeon game show. NOT the DD 2K way. THIS way.

I just got done watching it, and I’ve got to say that it was done extremely well. The set is amazing and the music blends right in with it. Ben Lyons and Asha Kuerton were very good at hosting. Its funny, when I heard Ben Lyons scream “FUMBLE!!”, it really reminded me of Mike O’Malley. The only gripe I have with the show is that there are only two events before the Crag, WHAT?!?!?! Even three would be OK. Other than that this show is great, they really made look good for 2008. Nickelodeon really did good this time.

About the New Aggro Crag it looks like the Combination of the Original Aggro Crag and the Megacrag.

Well, I’m going to have to respectfully disagree with most of you here. I will say that I was a fan of the original back when I was a kid. But, I will start with what I did like. I won’t stick with this for two long - I think most of us agree on these points.
Music
Graphics
Asha Kuerton (she’s ALMOST good enough to replace Moira Quirk)
The first (relay) challenge
Now, for, in my opinion, the chaff.
The football game was weak & boring - it really could’ve been cut to :45.
Only 2 pre-Crag games? Seriously, guys, we used to fit in 4 before the Crag in a 30 minute block.
Where did regular point values go? It felt TOO MUCH like American Gladiators - if I wanted to watch AG, I’d watch AG.
The Crag, while interesting in that it required a double climb, lacked the import actuator aspect of the original program.
Ben Lyons really did nothing for me - maybe it was that I couldn’t hear/understand him half of the time. I don’t fault him fully for that.
I’ll watch again if I’m not busy, but I’m more interested in watching my friend/former competitor David Hudson on Jeopardy Kids Week Reunion this week. But maybe that’s just me - it’s my kind of blast from the past.

Oh god, I still can’t believe this is even existent…
everything is like the classic GUTS only the scoring, the teams (MERRY CHRISTMAS COLORS) and the tournament idea…
It’s better than DD2K but as far as a game show, I still don’t see why they couldn’t get MIKE and MO.
i don’t want to nitpick it to death, but i love the intro and the crag… although I personally believe it should be 1 player.

I kind of miss the actuators too, but in a winner-take-all format, you don’t want to have to explain that the winner didn’t win because they missed a button.
The victory zip line run was my favorite touch.

I agree with Taylor there should be more events like the original version. If they cant squeeze in 5 events in the half hour, then they should just make it a hour long show.
In my opinion, I think the host and the referee sounds like the original host and referee, Moira Quirk and Mike O’Malley. They need to just be themselves and they will be alright.

My Family’s Got GUTS is a blast to watch. I felt like it was back in the 90’s again. Ben Lyons and Asha Keurten do a great job. I actually like the 2 events until the Crag format. The Aggro Crag never looked better. I give my Family’s Got GUTS a 9/10. Nickelodeon did good this time. I’ll be watching every night. DO YOU HAVE IT? GUTS!

The only thing I didn’t like was the crag. It seemed too short for a two person event, and really easy for the adults. Climb a rock wall and hit the button, that’s not terribly hard.
