I really wish I knew about this when it was going on, but sadly the auditions for Nick’s revival of Guts called My Family’s Got Guts is over already. Sorry about that. However, you can at least look at the logo here. Pretty nice, isn’t it? Very reminiscent of the old one. It seems like they obviously did decide to stick with the family theme, as they are going for families of four in the order of two adults and two kids. Nick wants the kids to be 10 to 16 and the adults to be over 21. Could be some really funny combinations there with Redneck Guts if they went for it.
No word on the host or format or anything yet. Honestly, the only thing really known is the Agro Crag will be coming back in, and I quote, a more “3D” way. I’m curious as to what that exactly means since I’m pretty sure they didn’t climb on a cardboard cutout in the 90s version and they had to interact with objects on the fake mountain. A few videos of the auditions in Universal Studios have been posted.

I’m very curious about this in a good way, especially after seeing those youtube videos. Guts is essentially a rip off of American Gladiators and I say that in the most loving way possible because they pulled it off really well back then (Speaking of which I wonder if the revival of American Gladiators had anything to do with Nick reviving this show?) . I really loved Global Guts and I wished that they would have brought that version back. Oh well… :(
If they don’t over produce it or have a over the top host and announcers like Hulk Hogan it will be a hit for sure, hell it will probably be better than American Gladiators ^___^ .

I heard the Agro Crag will be named the “Ice Crag”. As for the “3D” element, I can’t really imagine what that could means. I hope it means being even larger than the “super agro crag” from Global Guts, that would cool. As for the host, I’d like to see Mike O’Malley and Moira Quirke return. I also hope they bring back that great theme music too.

As I’ve said when it was annouced that GUTS was coming back. I really hope Nick doesn’t screw this up. Double Dare 2000 was decent but it wasn’t the 1986-1994 version by any means. I agree that Mike and Moira Quirke at least need to make a cameo. And yes that awesome GUTS rap theme needs to come back. It’s always been one of my favorite game show themes. And I think it’s the only game show theme that’s in the style of rap. It’s still a shame that Nick Studios is no more.

I agree, I hope Nick doesn’t screw this up. I hope the events, the music and the set are at least somewhat reminiscent of the classic one. Yes, like any good revival, things need to be modernized. But, really they don’t have to change much from the 90s version.
The Events - The same events would work today, maybe more large scale, but they were good then and they’d be good now.
The Host - I didn’t hear anything about the host, but I really can’t imagine Guts without Mike O’Malley and Moira Quirke.
The Set - The last version of Gut, Global Guts, had a very nice stage for the time. With a few modern touches, I think it could work in 2008.
The Agro Crag - I’m really hoping this one even tops the “super Agro Crag” from Global Guts. I hope its even larger than it was in 1996.
The Music - I can’t really imagine GUTS without them saying “Do you have it?” at least one during the episode. And I can’t really imagine the theme music not sounding just like the old one. I’d love to hear a remixed version of the Global version. It would sound pretty modern in this day in age. Or I wouldn’t mind a rerecorded sound alike version. But, remember what they did to the Double Dare theme in the 2000 version…Uh oh…

I’m happy that Nick is bringing back GUTS. I agree with shon (seems like a theme to me lately), it is a rip off of American Gladiators. But if you could pull it off, it can be a good thing. The bad thing is now that I’m in my 30s (I’m actually 30) and have no kids, I can’t enjoy this version like I enjoyed the original, but, as I said earlier, I’m happy that it’s coming back so when I do have kids (which hopfully would be one day) I would sit with them and watch it.

I just hope, this show has on-air cash and prizes, unlike the original version of Guts, where somehow competition was its own reward (i.e. no on-air prizes for the winners or losers)
Only on All Star Guts- did the kids earn savings bonds for their efforts. At the levels in which they gave ‘em to them at the time (1st-$2500,2nd-$1500,3rd-$1000) would work well on this new version.

Hey! If you really want to see the show, they are taping now until August 16th at Universal, you can see the new “Ice crag” up close and personal. It’s really something!

Im shocked this is coming back, considering the route Nick chose to go, distancing themselves from their gameshows/contest shows of the past. (See Nick GAS as a reference)
PS - Even in shambles, Nick GAS is still on Dish Networks schedule, albeit it as a sad shell of what it was

Does anyone know if there will be anymore auditions, like for a next season or something? My family is very much interested in being in this show and we meet all of the requirements.

I went to the tapings. The Crag is VERY impressive, and reminiscent of the original.
The new format reeks of Gladiators…you even get a head start on the Crag based on how many points you have!

We’ve had Family Double Dare, Family Feud, now My Family’s Got Guts!. Next, like Todd said, is My Family Knows the Legends of the Hidden Temple, then after that its My Family’s The Masters of the Maze, then My Family Will Shop Till They Drop…. Please stop me!

Or perhaps My Family Can Make the Grade, My Family Gets the Picture, What Would Your Family Do?, and who knows what else. But anyway, it’s nice to see this coming back, even if it doesn’t have Mike and Mo.
