Morning Buzz for September 28, 2011
Good morning, everyone. A few things happened overnight, and we’ve a few other stories which don’t require a full post, so here are your morning updates for this Wednesday.
*ITV is finally debuting their new game show High Stakes on October 11th, a Tuesday. It’s a relatively strange day for it which doesn’t send signals of strength our way. We discussed the show before, and you can read that here. But, in summary, there’s a grid of numbers. You step on a number on a row and if you’re right you get cash; wrong and the floor very slowly lowers like an elevator eliminating you from the game. We’ll be sure to let you see some of it whenever the show debuts. If you want to. That remains to be seen.
*The new Ludia game show video game The Price is Right: Decades has a debut date. The game, which takes you through the various decades of Price, will be released October 18th. Click here to take a look at screen shots of the XBox 360 version of the game.
*We’re always very happy to see BuzzerBlog readers make it onto game shows, especially ones where they can win a boat load of money. Chad Mosher, who also blogs occasionally at About.com, plays Millionaire tomorrow and Friday, September 29th and September 30th. He’s playing on Double Money week so one of his questions could be worth $50,000. Be sure to check it out. We’ve got another reader, Dave Ramos, playing in October. We’ll alert you as to when that happened. Buzzer has a shocking amount of million dollar readers from various shows. I’d love to see another.
*Now that the game show season is officially on, we’ll be looking at some of the ratings again. Most recent figures come from the week ending September 18th. Who Wants to be a Millionaire and Family Feud both had a fantastic week. Millionaire grew 4% to a 2.4 but the big winner is Family Feud increasing by 8% to a 2.6 rating. I’m interested to see how high it can go before the end of the season. It grew massively last year. Could it get to a 3.0 rating? Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! scored a 6.1 and 4.6, respectively.
*Speaking of Family Feud, the show uploaded more bloopers from the new series on their YouTube page. It helped their ratings skyrocket last season. We’ll see if it helps this time around. It always seems to be the innocent, sweet ones that say the outrageous answers you don’t expect.

I was so excited that Ludia was finally going to release a Price Is Right video game for the Xbox 360!!!!! Now all the major consoles will have their own version of the game!!!!!! So in the words of Charlie Sheen “WINNING”.
Still no Millionaire in Ctown, so I won’t be watching…..boo….right when I was getting back into it.
At first, I thought TPIR Decades was out already, because on the premiere, every audence members got their own game. Anyway, I can’t wait for the new game. That on my christmas list.
I know that they gave us home viewers a chance to win a copy on their website as a Priceless Giveaway. I don’t know if they are still taking entries but it is worth a shot. Hopefully I win a copy.
I think one of the reasons FF is getting bigger ratings is because they back in certain markets. For instance, last year, the show was not in Greenville, SC…although it was the previous year. Now, it’s back…and, it’s pretty cool. I’ve been watching both episodes every night…and laughing a lot too. The only thing that concerns me is that not everybody may like the humor. I like it…but, some may be turned off to it. Just sayin’.
I personally like the humor. Steve is a nice change of pace over the previous unfunny hosts of Family Feud, such as O’Hurley, Karn, Anderson…need I go on?
I also like how CBS is showing 1 full hour of Family Feud every night at 7 pm ET. Obviously, they’re competing against Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, but it must be because it’s getting popular again. Otherwise, CBS would be showing The Insider, or some other lame celebrity-news gossip program.

It’s also nice to see CBS airing a full hour of Family Feud weeknights at 7 pm ET. Obviously, it looks like they’re trying to compete with Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. CBS must be doing this because of the increase in ratings that Steve brought to the show when he took over hosting it. Otherwise, CBS would probably still be airing The Insider, or some other lame celebrity-gossip program at that time slot.
By the way…that creature can be ugly! LOL
Price Decades oughta be good. FF Decades was really something. I wonder if they’re gonna release Price Decades on the Wii.
They will, it will be on all the major platforms.
I live in the West Palm Beach area, and am I ever glad I do. I mean, does FF Still have to be on at 10am? And still on WSVN-7 in Miami? Ch. 7 constantly interrupts regularly scheduled programming. Can’t Ch. 33 or 39 carry FF?
As for WoF still being the #1 game show, I don’t know how it still is when they’ve scrapped cars and the $50,000 cash bonus for Wheel Watchers club members, gone to Las Vegas TWO SEASONS IN A ROW?, and reduced the $700 space down to a ridiculous $500.
I’m worried that WPBF might move WoF from 7:00pm down to 12:30pm. I hope they don’t.
Send an angry letter to WSVN!
I don’t think you understand, Sending an anry letter to WSVN isn’t going to do me any good b/c apparently viewers want WSVN to continue what they’re doing. I’d be better off requesting Ch. 33 and 39 to pick up the rights to FF. I would also request Ch. 33 or 39 be the Fox affil.
I just think that it’s amazing what Family Feud’s done recently. It wasn’t too long ago when it was getting half that rating and you were saying the only reason for its continued success was its cheapness.
