More Previews of the New Season of “Let’s Make A Deal”

The last set of previews we shows off for the third season of CBS’s daytime game show Let’s Make A Deal were pretty popular, so how about some more?  The Wayne Brady hosted game show returns in September for another series of episodes.  A few changes will come with the new shows, and most are just aesthetic.  A live DJ has been added to the side of the set, allowing Wayne and announcer Jonathan Mangum to interact and improvise more.  Good move on their part.  The set also got a facelift.

Before anyone groans about adding the live DJ to the set: Thematically, it’s just the modern version of Ivan Ditmars and his band doing the music “live” on-set during the ’70s show. I don’t see how this is much different at all, and it should only add to the loose, off-the-cuff feel Deal has most of the time (no bad thing at all).

I’m still not fond to the new thing where during the gameplay, the lights dim in the audience. Usually during the games, I get to see what the audience is wearing, but that won’t be the case. I’ve said this once and I’ll say it again: The dark lights make you feel like an America’s Got Talent reject.

  • Andrew says:

Wayne Brady should reconsider being bald and regrow his hair IMO.

  • Doug Morris says:

I could be wrong — but it looks like for the first time since the early ’90s version, LMaD partitions a lucky 30+ potential traders from the rest of the crowd.

(I’m not counting the Spanish-language themed “Trato Hecho”, since I haven’t seen enough of it, and the “Game Show Marathon” treatment since it was then a one-off.)

  • Hey, to update your info– It’s not just a DJ. Cat Gray is an amazing keyboard player. He has toured doing improv with Wayne and myself for 10 years and also has toured with many huge acts including Prince. He’s the best improv musician ever, imho. There actually is no DJing at all happening.

Thanks for the clarification, Mr. Mangum. Superb work on LMAD!

    • Kevin $ says:

Jonathan Mangum, I must say, is such a great fraction of this current “Let’s Make a Deal”. TRULY a great choice of announcer/sidekick! SOOO glad he was chosen! Very seriously! It can only add to (and look great on) the resume tape for Mr. M!

OMG dudes it’s the MAN GUM!

Yo yo Man gum! Love your show man! You do the illin’ job!

  • Ben Mason says:

Where is “Let’s Make A Deal” done? From what I see, it’s CBS Television City, Studio 31. The show needs to be done in HD.

    • Ben Mason says:

I want Wayne to stop saying his name at the start of the show as well by just saying “Welcome to Let’s Make A Deal”.

    • Brandon W. says:

Last I heard, it was recorded at KTLA’s Sunset Bronson Studios, and early Season 1 episodes were shot in Las Vegas.

  • Matt says:

Is the model Tiffany Coyne returning?

  • LaJuan says:

Still don’t get the making the audience dark during certain deals. If this was only the Big Deal or if they did it during an musical moment such as clip #3 (which I would kill to have in my everyday life), I’d completely understand it.

I also agree with Andrew, the “Bro Luther” look is a bit different.

I just hope LMAD doesn’t get the LaJuan curse! (NB: The last three shows that I made either appointment or DVR worthy television were Murder in Small Town X, MTV’s The Blame Game, and American Gladiators 2.0 and we all know how those turned out…)

  • John says:

The LMAD games [Movin' on Up, Gold Rush, Jonathan's Piggy Bank Challenge, the Pinata Game, Spell Me A Deal, Rap Me a Deal, Para-A-Dice, Cook me a Deal, Gold Rush, Hi-Lo, Three of A Kind, 2 Pair, Storytime with Wayne and Jonathan, Dr. Wayne, Zonk and Winding Road, Three Zonks or Real Prizes?, Auction] going to take place at center stage. Wayne or Jonathan would no longer have to go to the back of the audience to do a deal.

For Who Wants to Answer Mutiplie Choice Questions, the seating going to be hot seat style?
