More Lifelines, More Excitement, and More Suspense on “Millionaire” Starting September 13

Who Wants to be a Millionaire comes back for its ninth season on September 13th.  Fans of the show get ready…the season debut of Millionaire is going to be a real game changer.  The show will essentially remain the same Millionaire you know and love but with some new twists and turns added to bring you more suspense, more excitement, and more strategy than ever before.

Millionaire will also be adding a brand new Lifeline.  Not only that, the road to winning $1,000,000 is going to be a bit shorter.  All of this means becoming the first person to beat the game since 2003 is an even greater possibility.  New twists, turns, risks, challenges, and fun comes September 13th on the new season of Millionaire.

That’s all we can say for now, but it sounds very exciting.  More information will be available in weeks to come.  Now here’s the fun part for you all.  What do you think will happen? I’m actually relatively stumped still.  To give you a look at other versions of the show and their various changes, take a look at the clips below.  The may offer some insight and hints into changes.  For instance, the British version uses a 12 step money ladder instead of 15 like we do.  Other versions offer a new lifeline if you remove the second milestone, putting yourself at major risk for extra help. Travis Penery recently went over the new UK format. Maybe we’ll be seeing a change closer to this? What do you think will happen?

Again, what do you think will happen?

i prefer they have a 12 q format like british version does but with a safety level for every 4 questions
    i prefer this

    $1 MILLION)))
    $500,000
    $250,000
    $100,000
    $50,000)))
    $25,000
    $10,000
    $7,500
    $5,000)))
    $3,000
    $2,000
    $1,000

This money tree removes all of the weird amounts
I cant think of a good new lifeline, maybe someone else will comment with a good Idea.

insiders say randomized money levels and questions.

Has taping started for this season? I assume there will be leaks as to the new changes when they start.

I just got in to the contestant pool and I’m eager to her the changes so I can develop my strategy.

While I think “Timeout” or “Stop the Clock” whatever it’s called will be the lifeline that is added, I’d like to think there is more to it than just stopping the clock. If it is added in the top tier, then no doubt it should eliminate the possibility of walking away. If you need to use extra time to answer the question, then you better eventually answer the question.

I have an idea for a lifeline that I doubt would be added, but could be an interesting twist on the game. I’d call it “insurance” or something, and it would have to be used before answering a question in the top tier. Basically, if you use this lifeline, and you get the question wrong, you get your insurance, and get a new question. It’s “Switch the Question”, without the lame “What would you have guessed anyways?” after it. But, insurance is expensive. One of two things has to happen. Either the replacement question must be answered, or the 2nd tier milestone is removed, causing a harsh fall in prize money. Although I think the latter could cause more walkaways than necessary.

Just a thought I had while reading the comments!

They should go back to having Meredith introduce the next contestant, and the person emerges from the central hallway. Also, like Tuesday’s premiere of UK Millionaire, they should add the Hot Seat Crossover camera move and music.

Having the on-deck contestant walk up directly as the previous contestant exits is often quite awkward, as many times the two do not acknowledge each other.

Lastly, I know I’ve mentioned this before, but I really think they should impose a 30-second time limit on Ask the Expert. It prevents rambling, and ups the drama.

I bet that it will be cancelled this year. If I’m wrong, I will personally show up at Ken Basin’s house dressed as a giant can of Fresca.

  • Howard says:

New teaser for season 9 shows 14 Q’s and RANDOMIZED DOLLAR AMOUNTS!!
