“Minute to Win It” Returns to NBC Tonight at 8:00PM ET
Those of you that like NBC’s Minute to Win It are going to be happy to know that the stunt game show, hosted by Guy Fieri, returns to the network tonight at 8:00PM ET. The show will be doing a special group of holiday themed episodes. The set and games have been decorated for the seasons, Guy will have some special helpers, and gifts will be given to the audience and contestants. The gifts to contestants will be special bonuses during the game, like ten extra seconds or possibly an extra life. Also, some players will get the chance to play two bonus games above the final tenth game for the million. Each game is worth another million dollars, so the contestants can play twelve games for $3,000,000. NBC provided us with some clips of what to expect. Take a look below.

Yeah they can offer $3 million because no one has a prayer of even getting $1million if Super Coin is game 10..I will admit that the “10 extra seconds” and the “Extra Life” bonuses are good ideas..maybe you can put them in normal game play by offering a random bonus (say 5 extra seconds, 10 extra seconds, 15 extra seconds, an extra life, or a “Game Changer”- after seeing the game blueprint or after a failure at a game they can choose to change to another game for the same amount) if they’re willing to increase the difficulty of a game..say at game 3 or so..
Are all the contestants this screamy?
I hope Santa brings us THE CUBE.
A-MEN!!!
Chuckles (great and good friend) and I have been watching on YT, and we’ve been hoping to show this to others of our friends. One whom we did show the first episode of the second series described it as “. . . like ‘Beat the Clock’. .. but the games are MEAN!”
Don’t know if I’d put it that way or not!
To Be Continued?? did NBC learn nothing???
First time watching tonight. This show is so evil! All that pulling at heartstrings! All that wait till after the commercial! I hate you, I hate you, I hate you! I also can’t wait until next Tuesday!
Hey, I used my DVR and watched it after it aired live, a lot easier to watch… But I did love the “Banana” segment plugging the Incredible Me Movie DVD….
Another show that drives me crazy is Chopped on the Food Network, they love to leave you hanging, so I only watch it on the DVR.
But then, most of the shows I watch are on DVR. The morning news, and some sports events are live, but that is about it. Heck, I have even starting to watch less sports live, and instead watch it on the DVR, such as watching a 1 PM game starting at 2 PM, so I can fast forward through the commercials and halftime.
The other thing I have used in the Prime Time on Demand feature from my Cable Company… alas, seems like CBS is pulling much of its HD programming, and only allowing it on SD. But still basically commercial free and don’t even have to fast forward.
Quite a few of the games used on this episode were some of the show’s Old Favorites spruced up with a little mistletoe here and a little holly there.
“Wreath Relay” could be one of the more adaptable games for them. If they’re doing a Hawaii-themed show, they can always substitute leis! (“Re-Lei”?)
MTWI has done the “to be continued” jazz before. With usually ten steps (and now twelve for these holiday episodes), plus an extra life, it’s not likely that they would complete a contestant’s march to a megabux in a single hour show.
Contrast this with “The Cube” which twice (once in each series) devoted its entire show to one contestant, with no need to straddle. (Both these contestants saw the Jackpot game, and decided to leave with one hundred thousand quid apiece, thank you!)
I seem to have stumbled across a couple YouTube accounts that appear to be NBC’s attempts at astroturfing to promote MTWI. See users “mtwiguy” and “mjBetterThenKobe”. mtwiguy is the most blatant, because of the rather official-sounding channel comment on the the account’s user profile page.
Really, NBC, cut it out. Just make a good show and we’ll watch. Quit using cheap gimmicks trying to increase your ratings, and stop treating your audience like a bunch of morons.
I find it funny that despite everyone here hates this show, it’s still discussed relatively frequently in this site.
I don’t really think everyone here hates the show, just a vocal faction. Personally, I think it’s a show that really has the potential to be excellent, but gets knocked down to merely decent by flaws in its execution. It’s better than Deal or No Deal (US), but it’s no The Cube.
I watched MTWI tonight, and I must say, it’s actually getting better. They’ve cut back on the dumb sob stories, padding, predictable commercial break cliffhangers, and generally a lot of the crud that was holding the show back.
Apparently, sometime between last week’s episode and this week’s, NBC and/or the show’s producers came to their senses. Let’s just hope this lasts.
I have a question. This show happens to be simultaneously intensely annoying and a tad addicting. I’m just wondering about the extra 10 seconds thing. Why does he keep saying to the contestants that they can pick up ten seconds, or take them away. Why would anyone take 10 seconds away? Or is he saying if they choose to use it, it may help them or hurt them? Anyway, it’s probably an obvious answer, it’s just that the first time I heard it, I thought he mis-spoke, now I’m sure he’s said it multiple times, and I just don’t get it. Thanks!!
We don’t get it either why anyone would want to take away 10 secs. Can someone please explain??????
Some of the challenges are “do this without failing for a minute”. They can take 10 seconds away from those.
