“Millionaire” Tournament of Ten Day Six: Tim Janus
This is a really exciting week for fans of Who Wants to be a Millionaire. For the first time since 2004, the show will give away $1,000,000 in this Tournament of Ten which worked out so much better than I anticipated. It’s been really exciting and at least the players still have to answer a $1,000,000 question with no real help. It still takes guts to do it. It’s going to take even more guts this week.
Everyone who won $50,000 has now had their chance for the million. Only one, Sam Murray, went for it and got the question right. Sam Murray has to dodge five more bullets as the final five take to the Hot Seat. The next four shows see contestants who won $100,000 have their chance. They’ll have to risk $75,000 if they want it, but the million is there for the taking. First up today is Tim Janus. If you remember Tim from his previous experience he is a former stock trader who became a professional eater. He’s got a question in the category of Famous Quotations standing between him and $1,000,000. Can he do it? Watch today and find out. Here’s a video provided by ABC.

Based on the amounts Seeds 5-1 have previously won and the difficulty of all questions other than the #8 Seed (which was ridiculously easy), I'd like to congratulate Sam Murray on winning $1,000,000.

Daniel, the question is only easy if you know the answer. I thought Tim's question was easy…for me. But I wasn't sure about Sam's question.
But I do agree that It'll be a tough sell to get someone who has six digits in their pocket to go for the million unless they are absolutely sure of the answer. A good investment can turn $250K into a million, too!

Yeah, I don't know if any of these questions are easy. That's a little too much of a blanket statement. Grant you, you can logic your way to eliminating some answers. But even that takes a certain level of knowledge to know where to begin. I had no idea about that world population question. But I did remember hearing that the Last Supper was originally painted straight onto a wall, for a relatively poor monastery. So that question I felt more comfortable guessing on. I would have walked on the population question though.
