“Millionaire”, “Family Feud”, and “Deal or No Deal” Debut Today. What Did You Think?

I know it’s not airing in some markets because of a variety Labor Day televised events but today is the debut of new seasons of Who Wants to be a Millionaire, Family Feud, and Deal or No Deal.  Deal really has little change at all, but Millionaire has the new Tournament of 10 and Feud has the car and Bullseye.  I’m really curious as to what you all think.  You can place any comments about the shows in this box.  There may be some spoilers, so be careful to those who don’t want to read them.

DOND was dropped by CW here in Orlando, so I don't get to see DOND changes until MY TV (The Forgotten Network) airs the show later this year. I've DVRed Millionaire and am going to watch all 5 episodes this Friday Afternoon. Family Feud, overall was good, but I was hoping my the Money ($23,000 or $19,000) would be on the back of the team's podium, where the name's used to be.

I see it as fair in that it's up to the families' respective skills at the game. It's not like they come out giving them lopsided, disparate jackpots. It adds to the payoff if you're good at the game–a bigger reward.

And why all the assumptions of dischord at winning a car? I mean, seriously, they can sell the sucker and divide the haul if they want. It's really not a big deal.

Well (from up here in Canada)…I liked the "revamped" version of FF. Certainly speeds things up a bit, and it nice to see a game show get a bit of an update (looking forward to the season premiere of TPIR!). I agree that there should be a running total displayed somewhere, much like the Ray Combs version.
Thanks for letting me put my 2 cents in!

    Try ACESS.
I live in CA and get them ALL.

There was a documentary a few years ago that discussed discord behind the scenes. Over the several years, there have been a few…especially when family member gave a rotten answer that cost them the game.

As for the cash equivalent…not sure on that. Some shows do. But, some shows say "take it or leave it".

To myke25: Thank you for posting that to the Family Feud poster. I’m this close to stop following it on Twittter. And, for your other post because it sites like this and that other website (name we will not mention, but most regular Buzzerbloggers know what site I’m talking about), that make us as game show fans come together and talk about game shows. So thanks also, Alex.

  • DeVares says:

To JeopardyWinner: That’s a good lineup, but I doubt if CBS will take those timeslots back because they were struggling at those time slots (and, in the 4pm slot, most affiliates on all three networks were pre-empting that time slot for syndicated shows, and that would be the case today).

To Jason: Really? I thought Global was airing Family Feud (I know they use to air The Price Is Right on Global).

To James: you forgot this one:

    BOB FEARS DOUG
BOB FEARS NEUTERED DOGS (I started not to post that in respects to Michael Vick).

  • Family Feud says:

    Hi James,
Yes, fan opinions are very important to us. The "thanks for watching" replies were honest, personal, responses to people who took the time to write about their thoughts on the show, and our new season. Sorry, if it sounded like some kind of canned response to you…they weren't. We have worked hard to stay true to the core Family Feud format yet inject some new fun and excitement. We look forward to this coming year continuing to deliver great game show entertainment to our fans. We also hope to gain some new fans ;-) Again, we really appreciate all the input from BuzzerBlog & all the BuzzerBlog visitors…keep it up! P.S. We know you are a nice bunch!!

  • Family Feud says:

We agree ;-) Just wanted to personally thank everyone that posted on the day of our 2009 season premier…

I LOVE the new season of Family Feud. The Bullseye round is much better than during the Combs era and the car is a great addition to the show. However the NBC affiliate in Pittsburgh (WPXI-TV Channel 11) has decided to move Feud to the 4:00am death slot and put "Dr. Oz" in Feud's old spot of 12:30pm. Luckily I have the DVR, but that burns me up because this season has been the best yet and they are trying to kill it. This was the same time slot that WPXI gave to "Trivial Pursuit: America Plays" and we all know how that ended up.

  • Ben Z. says:

I finally watched the new season of Family Feud, and for the most part it was fine. The Bullseye Round was as good as it was in the past (It's the same thing, so I can't say it's better). The thing I really, really disliked was the family introduction videos. This to me was a big waste of time. The banter between the host and families as they're being introduced was always interesting. Now it's non-existent. If the families had made intro videos and sent them in, that would be one thing, but these were done at the studios with the families wearing their name tags…and the video quality was awful! As far as the car for 5 wins, it's a novel idea, but to me, it could possibly kill a family's last shot at Fast Money. The family may be so preoccupied with winning the car that they may not be able to concentrate on Fast Money. Speaking of Fast Money, the other thing that still bothers me about FF in general is that FF started in 1976. It's now 2009, 33 years later, and the consolation prize in Fast Money is still $5 a point, sam as it was 33 years ago?! How about upping that a bit to maybe $10 a point? It just seems that, while FF is still a good show, to me it's not a great show.
