I hope this will be OK. Or to put it another way, I hope it will be up there with other million-dollar things like Ted DiBiase and Betty Grable's legs :-) There's just so many obstacles to overcome (Fremantle's track record, "updating" it with mo' money, flaws in contestant "casting"). Whether they are real or overexaggerated by the game show hardcores remains to be seen. As it is, I think it's a little of each.

I just hope the Fremantle responsible for CS2001, MG98, and Temptation (Dollars, did we mention they're called Temptation Dollars? Temptation Dollars, Temptation Dollars, Temptation Dollars! Bye, take your lots of love and go!) will be far away from this, and we see more of what we've seen with a decent revamped, rehosted TPIR, and a much improved Family Feud. Being on CBS might help...TPIR is still good, after all. And I may be one of the few with good things to say about Gameshow Marathon, but at least it did a decent job combining pure classic elements with proper updates and bigger budgets.

Geez, remember when GS revivals were reasons for celebration? Now we just groan about what is to be. Well at least TV's idea deficiency isn't as bad as that in the movies...right?

I know I shouldn't have so much angst over a TV show. But it would be nice to have something good out there, especially with so much junk.

I'm really not sure if I can tell you anything more (Even though I am Anonymous, this could still be traced and I could wind up not being on the show--IF I'm Chosen that is). Let's just leave it at what we know right now.

Thanks Auditioner. I really appreciate your taking the time to share info about the audition. I'm glad it went well for you. I hope you get on! :-)Please post any more details about what happens when you get contacted again or about taping. (Or anything else related to Password that you might learn.) Thanks!
Regarding the application... Did they send it to you by email? Or is it online? What sort of questions did they ask on it? Also, when you say they ask for a "normal" job, I am guessing you mean that they want you to have a regular job like teacher, bank teller, or something like that. Correct? I am a personal assistant. Do you think that would qualify as "normal" enough per what they said?
Sorry for all the questions. It's just that I've been waiting for this particular opportunity for a long time and want to learn all I can so that I proceed in the best way possible. Thanks! :-)

Well, here's what I can tell you without possibly getting in trouble (It's my first audition, so I'll try to remember it all). First of all, it looks like they're gonna tape it in New York (Strangely enough, The Same Place where they Tape "The People's Court", but whatever.) Secondly, it dosen't seem like they have the rules completely finalized but they did tell us about a potential twist. Something about having a set Dollar amount, and the value decreases by a certain amount either for every clue given or for every second off of a clock, even they aren't sure (No word on whether it'll be largely the traditional Password format or the 70s/80s puzzle format).

As far as the actual audition goes, it went reasonably well. In 10 Minutes, They ask for a lot of energy, a "Normal" job, and what you would do with a million dollars. Of course, you have to know how to play the game as well (Y'know, typical Audition stuff). My playing Partner gave a few illegal clues, as well as one funny moment that the Producers want to save for their "Funny file" (Did I mention that they record our auditions?) It wasn't an instant "You're In" like they do on "Idol", so I'm guessing anyone who plays for real will be contacted by phone. All In all, I have a good feeling about it.

Hey Anonymous Auditioneer. How did your audition go?? Please share all details!! Thanks! :-) Also, to you and everyone else, is the application online somewhere? If so, where? I sent in an email and picture yesterday and haven't heard back yet. I am also wondering if they accept videotapes as auditions as I am not near any major cities. And does anyone know if this show is taping in L.A. or NYC? The ad was in NYC Craigslist, and with Regis as the host who tapes his show in NYC, I am thinking it will be there. Any info anyone?

I don't think you have to worry about citizenship status so much. I'm Auditioning this weekend, and they sent me e-mails telling me that a valid drivers license & SSN will do just fine. Also that there was a phone pre-interview, it all sounds legit to me.

The sending a picture is their first mistake. The 2nd mistake is having an age limit Who cares if the contestant is pushing 100 if he or she was good at the game. They are forgetting that knowing how to play the game and are good at the game comes first.

On a 2nd note I wonder if one former felon of the super password era will try out again. That would be very ironic.

To James Greek:
It wasn't just Jonathan Goodson's decision to sell his father's shows. It was a family decision, as the elder Goodson's estate was subject to taxes so hefty, they'd make your head swim. The net worth of the Goodson-Todman library (as I understood the story) took care of the estate tax payment.

I don't dispute your feelings; I feel much the same way. Especially since Pearson f***ed up on MATCH GAME, CARD SHARKS, and especially BEAT THE CLOCK (when it was on PAX). I live in one of the few markets where TEMPTATION isn't seen, so I can't comment on that one. I DO disagree with you on WHAMMY; the original PRESS YOUR LUCK was just fine, thank you.

And I don't want to hear anyone saying "you can't screw up PASSWORD." Purists complained over PASSWORD PLUS (you may remember Allen Ludden remarking that there were viewers who didn't exactly warm up to the revised format). And, even if you want to challenge me on that one, there's still PASSWORD ALL-STARS, and the miserable version that followed, with its truncated version of the "Lightning Round." I'm hoping for the best, but I'm suspecting the worst for MILLION $$$ PASSWORD.

So even though the Craigslist page for MDP doesn't say anything about having to be a U.S. citizen, the application form does?

Darn. And I was tempted to go for it...

Didn't matter to me becuase I can't afford a trip to LA to audition. but in response to James I hear Jonathon sold the company because the inheritence taxes were so ridiculously high he couldn't afford it. so in other words, The government is to blame (lol). But that being said Jonathon would have butchered the shows anyway. remember it was his decision to bring back Richard Dawson for Feud' 94 on the ETHS he said he regrets that decision to this day.

Marc, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I was looking at the application form for "Million Dollar Password" last night and it does say that you have to be a US resident. If you find anything otherwise let me know. Even though I live in Canada I'm interested in applying.
