“Million Dollar Password” Renewed

All of this is starting to sound a lot like how Power of 10‘s life cycle went, but let’s hope this one works out better.  CBS’s hit primetime game show Million Dollar Password has been renewed for six more episodes.  Its ratings have been pretty good for summer but it has seen a slight drop in recent episodes.  CBS really needs to not do what they did to Power of 10 and place it midseason against heavy competition.  I’m enjoying the show more with each new viewing and I’d like to see it stick around.

I would like to see Bob Barker and Drew Carey be the celebrities for ‘Million Dollar Password’. Barker and Carey have never played ‘Password’ so this would make the raitings go through the roof.

Yeah, CBS really messed up by placing Po10 against DoND and later Idol. Hopefully they will not overestimate MDP’s popularity.

I would also like to see Drew Carey on MDP. Bob Barker, not so much.

Knowing CBS, they’ll probably put it up against DoND or Idol thinking it has a chance of beating them. Don’t be greedy, CBS. Put it on a night that it can succeed, like Sunday Night where it is now. It would be a good follow up to the Amazing Race.

I have to admit, this is a very engaging show. Maybe – just maybe – Fremantle learned a lesson from Fox Syndication’s butchering of Temptation this past year (even tho Fremantle owns the show, it’s the packager/syndicator that seems somewhat responsible) and has turned the corner. TBS’s Match Game will be the new litmus test for this.

Glad to see MDP renewed. It’s a very good update of Bob Stewart’s classic. I also would like to see Drew Carey on the show sometime.

This is great news for anyone who enjoys a “smart” game show. I’m glad Bob Stewart is alive to see his “baby” doing so well in a reincarnation.

  • Matt says:

    Dear CBS,

Please put this on after the next season of Amazing Race ends. We can wait for a quality product.

    Thank you.

And I can see a Carey/Fields go round. But not before a White/O’Donnell deathmatch. :)

Unless CBS has something on the back burner for midseason, I have a feeling MDP will be thrown into the snakepit with IDOL. Although, it may have a fair chance against DOND, which IMO, has all but “jumped the shark.”

The small type of what passes for credits goes by so fast these days, but did anyone notice that Sande Stewart is a consultant for MDP?
