Mike Richard’s “Price is Right” Rescheduled + More Candidates

Thanks to reader Chris for pointing us at TVTix again. Mike Richard’s trial of “The Price is Right” has been rescheduled for Monday, March 12th. He will be joined by two other people: from “Dancing With the Stars”, Mario Lopez, and the only man who can out-tan Bob Barker, George Hamilton. You can click here for tickets. Well, at least to me, this one sounds like a bit of a dud.

I am going to make a prediction, after audition and these hosts and it seems they are auditioning everybody and anybody. Their going to say forget it and cancel the show.

  • Dave says:

George Hamilton did a fine job as the host of TPiR Live in Vegas..and Mike Richards is familiar enough with game shows..those two should be decent. Mario Lopez..bah.

  • Dave says:

I believe Bill Rafferty should be called to audition for the job for two reasons.

Reason #1: The last time he was on TV for anything was seven or eight years ago.
Reason #2: He hosted a game show which shall remain nameless in the same studio as the Price is Right twenty years ago.

  • Scott says:

Bill Rafferty? There’s a reason he hasn’t been seen on a game show the past several years. He’s OK, but he has always been inferior to the hosts he replaced — Bill Cullen on Blockbusters and Jim Perry on Card Sharks. He would suffer the same comparison on TPIR.

Maybe it is time CBS made a play for Tom Bergeron. Dancing will not go on forever, but TPIR certainly would under his able hosting chops.

Mario Lopez? Please, with his self-admitted ADD it is unlikely he could stay on point with the games. He’s a mess. Another Doug Davidson.

They need to go with an established host here who has wide demos or at least solid experience. Bob Goen, Mark Wahlberg, Marc Summers, Tom Bergeron, John O’ Hurley…

  • HW says:

I would like to see Mark Wahlberg, but I wonder if his Antiques Roadshow contract would allow him to take this gig.

Whatever the outcome…the show must go on as many in this country watch the show. Many of whom watch the show have illnesses, sickness, disease, etc… On example is a lady I know who has dealt with many health issues over the past 3 years, This lady said all of her pain and problems seem to fade away when she is watching The Price Is Right. She gets lost in the show and forgets about her health issues. With this kind of testimony I think CBS and Freemantle has the obligation of keeping the show on the air. Afterall, it is a favorite hour of the day for many as the show is about fun and games and it shows people at the best of just having a good time as opposed to the many other negative shows that exploit people fighting, anger, etc…

I still think Dave Price of CBS Early Show would be a great choice! I can alos see Tom Bergeron, Bob Goen, Mark Wahlbeg, Marc Summers, John O Hurley doing the show. Now, about Mario Lopez…Mario would certianly draw a large audience due to his youthful appearance and good looks. If Mario can do it, he could keep the show going for many years to come and keep drawing a larger audience.

Jeff Probst (Currently, host of “Survivor”) gets my vote as the new host of the Price is Right. He’s charming and has a wry sense of humor.

  • IH says:

I just wanted to say that I know for a fact that Kyle Hunter (KyleHunter.com) was hand picked by Bob Barker to take over the show on his retirement. You can see it on u tube. The others might have the names, but Kyle has the talent, and the blessing of the one and only Bob Barkerrr

  • Sean Richards says:

I saw Jeff Trachta in Reno, and he was just awesome. Does anyone know if he’s auditioned? They defnitely have to give the job to him. He was perfect.

  • Stephanie says:

ET host Mark Steines just auditioned as well. There will probably be more auditions before all is said and done, and I’m still hoping Rich Fields gets a shot because I think he’d be awesome. He and Todd Newton are still my top two choices

  • [...] CNN today added some more rumors that the giant confusion that is the new host of The Price is Right.  Listed as frontrunners are Mark Steines, George Hamilton, and lord help us all Mario Lopez.  CNN is saying that Entertainment Tonight anchor Mark Steines is getting the strongest buzz to take over Bob Barker’s role.  However, George Hamilton was the new host a bit ago.  And David Price was a bit ago.  So can you decipher the facts from shit?  I’m starting to just get confused and not care.  Obviously we’re not believing any “strongest buzz” thing until CBS announces a new host.  CNN also says that Todd Newton, John O’Hurley, and Mike Richards are being considered.
