If anyone can make an interactive quiz show respectable and interesting, it’s definitely Michael Davies. The Who Wants to be a Millionaire? executive producer and head of Embassy Row is developing an interactive quiz show called The Empire which will allow players to be “projected” into the studio by an internet profile or a live video. “I’ve been waiting for someone to crack the multiplatform game show for a decade, and this is far beyond what I could have imagined,” Davies said. “It is young, visual, dynamic and frankly, revolutionary.” Davies is looking to pitch this to networks in December. I have more faith in him than anyone else to make an interactive game show. While fun, shows like Playmania are always just lacking a certain style and sophistication to make it a respectable game show.

Since he’s pitching it in December, I doubt this is going to be on GSN since they already have plans for new interactive games in January.

We’ve already got a website started up like this: PlayCafe.com
You are interacting with trivia on your computer, competing against others players in the game, and watching a live interactive feed from the studio while text chatting at the same time. The only difference is that players aren’t projected back into the studio.

Perhaps this was another of his projects that Billy Bush told me of?

This has been done before. Anybody remember the 12-episode Fox Family dud called Paranoia?
