I was devastated by the news of Merv’s passing. I got to meet Merv about 2 months ago while doing run-throughs for “Merv Griffin’s Crosswords.” He seemed to be in perfect health and was happy, laughing, etc. It is especially poignant for me now as I am scheduled to tape an episode of “Crosswords” on Wednesday. No matter what happens, we can be thankful as game show fans that he gave us two of the greatest shows of all time. Godspeed, Merv. You will be missed.

Bad news. Merv has passed away. I’m on a cruise ship now, and had to post the news (the internet costs 50 bucks for two hours!!!

In the famous episode of the golden girls when Dorothy was on Jeopardy she called Merv Griffin the most beloved man in America and that just may be true. Hang in there Merv the whole world’s pulling for you.

Just caught his Biography this past week in the wee hours and was amazed again at all he has done. It goes without saying that I wish him all the best and hope he makes through this.

I’ll be saying a prayer to Mr. Griffin as well. I’ve done quite a bit of reading on his background and had him as a report in school. He is an idol to me and I hope and pray that he recovers from this.

Adam,

Merv has had no association with Jeopardy! or Wheel of Fortune for well over a decade, outside of the “created by” credit. In other words, both shows have done well without the creator having one iota of input.

This is sad news indeed. Merv Griffin is part of the minority of people in Hollywood that is still well-liked and respected by his peers and the general public. He is an honorable man with an honorable past behind him.

My family having a history with the same issues as Merv is dealing with, I wish him nothing but the best (as I always have), and being able to relate, he’ll be in my thoughts in the coming weeks. *Raises glass to Merv*
