Massive Ratings Update

I went a bit lazy, but the ratings page has a massive update. The Singing Bee keeps slipping down, as it’s now at 1 VS 100 new episode levels. However, Don’t Forget the Lyrics! and Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader? keep going up. Also, Without Prejudice? had a very strong debut, doing equally as well as GSN projected. GSN’s ratings for June stayed basically the same, though. Syndicated ratings had barely any change as well. Click here for the page, or click the link in the top right corner, which is easier.

It is a sad day when people would rather watch racists spouting their hate on a talk show instead of an actually interesting show like Russian Roulette.

Oh trust me, I’d much rather see Russian Roulette. It’s leaps and bounds better than anything they’ve ever done. However, in terms of what’s on the network right now, I just feel Without Prejudice is the best. Granted that’s not hard with stuff like Chain Reaction.

I must say I’m surprised to hear you say that. Were you perhaps let down by the premiere? I suspect a lot of people looking forward to it quickly tired because of the 90-minute running time.

GSN just seems to have forgotten how to make a good game show. Camoflauge and That’s The Question are not bad by any means, but just think—do any of them even come close to the tension when we saw that spin for $100 grand on Russian Roulette? Or even the final decision on Friend or Foe? (I cannot believe I am praising that show) GSN needs to get Gunnar Wettenberg back in the studio with Mark Walberg and the rest of the crew and start producing new Russian Roulette episodes now. I mean it. Quiet word games with $5000 grand prizes may be enjoyable but they won’t cut it forever.

But maybe Grand Slam is a good sign. It shows GSN isn’t afraid to put up a big-money (relatively, in this day and age) hard quiz that doesn’t need shock value like Without Prejudice does. Russian Roulette couldn’t have been that expensive to produce, you’d see typical winnings of about $2200 a show with a few $10,000 winners and maybe one or two $100,000 winners a season.

I’d think Without Prejudice is 2nd best if RR was still on. I mean to me it’s easily the best on now, and it would be in the top 3-4 back then for me. The only shows I place about WP are Russian Roulette, BallBreakers, and I’ve Got A Secret. I still love the show and TiVo it every new episode.
