“Let’s Make A Deal” Debuts Tomorrow on CBS; Behind the Scenes Look

Anyone else really excited for the new series of Let’s Make A Deal starting tomorrow?  I mean even beyond the show being fun and looking good, it’s the first daytime game show in a while.  There’s a lot of talk about more soap operas, specifically As The World Turns going dark soon.  If Let’s Make A Deal works out we may see some new ones pop up.  A lot of people, including myself, were very disappointed that The $1,000,000 Pyramid was not picked up.  We may see it down the line depending how this goes, so I’ll be watching when I can just for that.  If they see people will watch, they will make more.  Simple as that.  To get us more excited for Let’s Make A Deal, CBS sent us a link to a behind the scenes video of the show.  It offers a look at some of the games, the awesome set, host Wayne Brady, and executive producer Mike Richards.  Take a look.  Ready for the show tomorrow?

Yeah, that Zonk! sign can get old real fast. We all know what a Zonk looks like, but given they're catering to the average fan that doesn't know what the show is or how it works, I can see where the sign's necessary, but that'll be overkill if overused.

As for the show itself, bribg it(I'll try to get some sleep before 10 AM here in Philly(wishes it was a 3 PM show, oh well.)).

While I hope Wayne and company hit a home run, history is not on their side. And "their", unfortunately, includes Monty. Remakes of LMaD have come and gone quickly.

The facts: The first revival was based in Vancouver and lasted just a season (it was co-packaged with Catalena Productions, the folks behind the infamous "tragedy" entitled "Pitfall"). After a few years, "The All New…Deal" debuted and that lasted two years (I'd heard it was a close call for a third). Still later, NBC aired the Orlando-based "Deal" and that lasted about a year. Then came the great train wreck of '03 (less said the better).

The zonk sign may get old. But I'm encouraged there's a "zonk producer" on staff. He may have to get real creative — but the fact they hired a "nonsense prize coordinator", apparently separate from a "good/great/fantastic prize coordinator", is a sign of hope.

The TiVo's all set to record LMaD — and I have a season pass for it right alongside TPiR.

If this version is a hit, as said before, daytime network game shows will come back. As for soap operas, both As the World Turns and Days of Our Lives is under contract until September 17 of next year, and, from what I'm hearing, the soaps on ABC isn't doing well on the network either even though the same day airings on SoapNet is. So, for now, welcome back daytime network game shows.
