Daniel Weber, a 17 year old senior from Keystone Oaks High School, has just won $5,000 and the chance at $40,000 in
GSN’s “National Vocabulary Championship”. He will travel to New York City to compete in the $40,000 finals on February 26, 2007. The NVC is a nation-wide educational initiative to spread the importance of having well developed vocabulary school for all aspects of life. Each of the eight city finalists will be rewarded with $5,000, while the grand champion wins $40,000.
Weber said about his performance, “Coming into this there were 96 other kids that knew a lot of vocabulary. I just wanted to do well and it turned out in my favor.” Weber sealed the deal by answering his final ten questions read by “Chain Reaction” host Dylan Lane in a speed round in 1:15. GSN Senior Vice President of Marketing, Dena Kaplan, stated “GSN is taking the NVC across the country to raise awareness of the importance of language arts in the classroom. We’re investing in America’s future by providing money for college to winning students as well as making vocabulary fun and relevant in the game of life. We are thrilled that we will be seeing Daniel Weber at the national finals in February.”
