“Jeopardy” Lands on Facebook
Game show fans on Facebook have yet another daily distraction. The popular quiz show Jeopardy! has been released for the social networking site. The game is a joint venture between Sony and GSN Digital. The last collaboration was the Facebook edition of Wheel of Fortune which sees over 200,000 plays a day. Sony Pictures owns 35% of GSN. Any Facebook user can play Jeopardy! and match their wits against their friends.
The game includes three streamlined rounds and includes popular show elements such as the Daily Double and Final Jeopardy. Players not sure of answers in the first two rounds can use Jeopardy! Boosts, which let them double their score or pass a clue. Players can also ask a friend for help on the Final Jeopardy clue if they aren’t sure to win back half their bet. Leaderboards are included to show how you stack up against the rest of Facebook.
“Jeopardy! is considered a benchmark of ultimate knowledge. We’re thrilled that GSN Digital has created an interactive game for Facebook that makes learning fun,” said Harry Friedman, executive producer of Jeopardy!. “Jeopardy! is truly America’s Favorite Quiz Show, and we’re excited to be able to offer it to the millions of Jeopardy! fans looking for another way to enjoy the game,” said Jeremy Shea, vice president of GSN’s Digital Labs division. “The success of Wheel of Fortune on Facebook has paved the way for additional fan favorites, and we know our loyal players will love Jeopardy!”
