ITV’s “Red or Black” Goes Live and Interactive with Monterosa
In my opinion if you have a big event game show without typical play-along questions, there needs to be some form of interactivity to bring viewers into the action. It’s one of the things that Million Pound Drop excels at. ITV’s upcoming Red or Black, debuting September 3rd and stripped all week, will be joining in the interactivity. ITV, SyCo, and Gamesys have announced two-screen interactivity company Monterosa will create and deliver a new interactive game that lets viewers of ITV’s upcoming million dollar game show play along with what they see on screen.
American readers will remember this from GSN’s golden days when you could play along with nearly every game show on the network live. The Red or Black interactive game will let viewers predict what they think will happen and answer the ultimate question, “Red or Black?”, live each night. You can expect Facebook integration and unlock-able achievements for those lucky enough to win all ten rounds. Players will also gain rewards for sharing the game and show on social networking platforms.
Simon Brickle, Monterosa MD, said “We’re thrilled that ITV and their partners have chosen to incorporate 2-Screen as part of such a major production. Working closely with both online and TV production teams is the only way to make 2-Screen work creatively, and we’re looking forward to weaving the online audience into the fabric of the show.”
We’ll have more information on where to play as the show comes close to debut. Until then, check out ITV’s website for more information. British readers will be most interested, but Americans may as well check it out also because you know if the show does well that someone over here will get it.

If Red or Black succeeds, I can see ABC possibly picking it up for a short 6-episode run over here in America. Here’s hoping the game show is as exciting as the commercials make it out to be.
