Posted by Alex Davis as Deal or No Deal, NBC, Schedule Change
Let’s start with Deal or No Deal’s schedule change. You know NBC couldn’t resist putting the show on twice a week, didn’t you? Deal or No Deal will be seen on Mondays at 9PM ET starting on January 7, 2008. It follows American Gladiators. Deal will still be seen on Wednesdays at 8PM ET. The move to Monday comes from the far superior 1 VS 100 taking its place on Fridays at 8PM ET starting January 4th.
Now on to the Christmas special. On December 25th, Deal runs for two hours, from 8PM ET to 10PM ET. The cases are being knocked down to 25, which is an interesting little twist, as well as lower values being replaced by coal, egg nog, and fruit cake. There are two games in the hour, both consisting of $1,000,000 games.
In addition, this episode of Oprah, er, Deal or No Deal will be giving twelve gifts to the audience which will be sung to them in the tune of “The Twelve Days of Christmas”. The Lucky Case Ornament Game will be played for $100,000 as well. I’ve never been a big fan of all of Deal’s twists, but they are getting the hang of them this season. They’ve managed to keep a show that should get old quickly fresh and exciting. The show seemed doomed at the end of last season. They’ve really pulled a major comeback.

I enjoy Deal and am glad to see it back on twice a week. I’m not a huge fan of the supporters but as long as we don’t have the over the top contestants I can enjoy this again. I am glad the two nights this show will be on Mon and Wed like i was hoping for. this show needs to stay on Mon if no other night because Mon night was it’s best night.

I saw a commercial for 1 vs 100 tonight- looks like the new money tree is based only on players eliminated, not based on question value times players eliminated:
10 out: $1K
20 out: $5K
30 out: $10K
40 out: $25K
50 out: $50K
60 out: $75K
70 out: $100K
80 out: $250K
90 out: $500K
100 out: $1 million

Yes, DoND is getting better with fresh new ideas implemented into the game. Also, even though 1 vs. 100 has changed it’s payout format, it’s still a great show and I will still watch.

DoND seemed down for the count last season, but it’s nice to see they’re improving. DoND on Mondays will be more fun to watch than the god-awful Chuck.
