“Identity” Website Up

More “Identity” news: they put the website up finally.  Yes, there will be an online game.  Yes, there will be a text-and-win competition for, if we had to guess, oh, $10,000?  No, we still don’t know the rules beyond that a player has to find the identities of twelve people.  The money chain was revealed, though.

11- $500,000

10- $250,000

9- $150,000

8- $100,000

7- $75,000

6- $50,000

5- $25,000

4- $15,000

3- $10,000

2- $5,000

1- $1,000

Before we get comments, it’s 11 because there’s no point in giving money for placing the one identity of one person, is there?  “Identity” debuts December 18th in a week long event at 8PM ET.

Actually, it makes sense because if you know the identities of 11 people, you would then know all 12. But then again, that depends on the rules.

  • Joe Mello says:

It looks like typical binary (1:1) matching, so yes, there should only be 11 steps. Of course, the last one should be labeled 12 because it’s physically impossible to get only 11 right. Yay, semantics.

    The chain looks a little top heavy for me. I’d perferably go 500K | 100K | 75K | 50K | 30K | 20K | 10K | 7500 | 5000 | 2500 | 1000

  • Darren says:

Eleven correct is possible if there are more than twelve labels to choose from. Do we know enough about the rules to say yes or no to this yet?

  • KP says:

The presence of only eleven levels on the prize tree implies that there are indeed just twelve labels, but that’s all we can really go on as far as I’m aware.

  • Marc Power says:

the chain reminds me of the rich list which makes me nervous.

looks like a fun show…def will be tivo’ing the shows!!!

Any other clues about rules yet?

Are there going to be “lifeline” type of things (maybe you can ask one of the group to tell you they aren’t one of the things left on the board, or choose a thing on the board and Penn will tell you someone who isn’t that. Not sure what other ‘helps’ you could get. Maybe you can ask to have a conversation with a person for 30 seconds and they have to answer all of your questions truthfully – other than asking them directly if they have an attribute on the board).

Is it going to be “One wrong and your done?” Or maybe like a “3 strikes and your out” type of thing. It seems like you have to give some “strikes”, since while the game sounds like a fun concept, its going to be really difficult to really match them up accurately consistantly, especially depending on the helps you get. With “one and your done” and only 2-3 helps, I doubt anyone would get past 5 or 6 right usually, especially considering I’m guessing the producers are trying to pick people where their looks are not a match for the fact they put up on the board about them (some skinny cute girl who is a bulldozer operator, etc).

ive seen the commericals for Identity and it seems like it will be a good show. Im not saying I will like it more than Deal Or No Deal but this game I believe has potential but i will have to check it out and see. I wonder how i can become one of the twelve people have to guess. even being a contestant would probably be cool though.

  • Darren says:

On the website, the graphic for the non-functioning web game has one label “female”. This opens up another possibility for eleven-right-one-wrong: some of the labels might justifiably apply to mor than one person, but there’s only one way to hang a label on everyone at the same time. So yes, now that you mention it, Number 11 is Female. You get money. But you won’t find out till later that you just knocked out your only Opera Singer, and you’re hooped.

  • DC says:

    Thats an interesting observation Darren.

I wonder if possibly one of the “lifeline” type of things might be to be able to make a “backtrack”.

Lets say one of the labels was “female” – and you decided to hang that on one of the pretty obviously female people (although that could even me made to be extremely tricky now adays). In anycase though, lets say you get down to 3 left, with the labels left being “Construction Worker”, “Billionaire” and “Australian TV Show Host”, and one of the 3 left is female. For whatever reason, you think the one you labeled “female” is actually one of the 3 labels left instead, so, you can use your “backtrack” to put the woman and the “female” label back in play (and obviously go down a level in cash because you have one less “right” answer now), you pick the other woman left as the “female”, and now you can use the woman you put back up on stage for one of the other 3 labels left.

Makes for some very interesting decisions if thats the case.

maybe they have a “Switcheroo”-type format…The player places his 12 attributes, and they they’re told how many (but not which ones) are right, and they have the option of stopping or going on…but they have to improve their score each time, or the game ends with whatever the lower value is (Say the player gets 10 right for 250K…do you risk losing 150K (switching the wrong two leads to a final total of 8 for 100K) to win an additional 250K?

  • Harry says:

Quick! The online game is on already!

  • Alexis says:

i played it online … its pretty cool … might be a tough show to win the 500,000 but it gets people thinking which it what i love! it’s like a puzzle…
