“Identity” Renewed + New Improv Show for NBC

B&C stated that NBC has renewed “Identity” for seven episodes. The Penn Jillette hosted psychological guessing game stayed steady throughout it’s debut week in December, staying in the same ratings level as “1 VS 100″. NBC entertainment president Kevin Reilly said these will debut in March. Also, and I believe we reported on this previously, NBC has picked up the improv show “Thank God You’re Here” hosted by David Alan Grier and featuring who is, in my mind, one of the funniest people on earth: Dave Foley. The show, which should debut in spring, will throw comedians randomly into improv situations. Sounds remotely similar to the “Whose Line is it Anyway?” game Superheroes, doesn’t it?

Identity? Sheesh that show was awfully bad. Since when is racial profiling a legit way to get ratings? They should just end this show.

sorry you feel like that jack…personally, i (along with millions of others) thought Identity was GREAT!!! im a fan and can’t wait until it comes back…i’ve been waiting for this since it went off the air!!! YEAAAAHH!!!

Identity should be no more than 30 mins. Does EVERY prime-time game show have to be an hour-long, esp. when you can tell they’re trying to stretch the show out, just to have one contestant? They should also throw in some questions for the contestant to ask, and while they’re at it, tone the contestants down. That short guy who kept yelling “That…is…my…IDENT-I-TEEEEEEEE!” irritated the hell out of me.

I got sick of them prolonging the identity reveals with multiple camera shots, and Penn trying to hold a dramatic pose. It was tedious at best.

1 vs. 100 is teasing that the next episode will be twice as fast with twice the questions.
Maybe they are catching on at NBC….the actual “reveals” on game shows need to get shorter and less dramatic, it is the host’s buildup that matters most. This was the biggest complaint I had with Identity.

By the way, Dave Foley is hilarious and will be a perfect fit for Thank God…maybe we can get some KITH alums to visit…

they’ve had plenty of time to tweak the show…im sure it’ll come back pretty strong without all the kinks…and brandon, my boyfriend and i loved that ‘short’ guy! ;) he was the reason why we watched the rest of the week…and to see if someone could win it all again! i reckon it’ll be much harder to win it all this go around though…

Alex, you just lost all credibility in my book when you said Dave Foley is funny.

Although, having been in the audience for “Thank God You’re Here” I can say that it was very funny and deserved to be picked up. Dave Foley was good in it, but he is not part of the skits. He sits in the audience and acts as the “judge.”
