“Hole in the Wall” Needs an Audience

Want to see people get knocked on their ass over and over in a full scale game show that’s usually a five to ten minute segment on a Japanese variety game show?  I have good news for you, then.  FOX’s Hole in the Wall needs an audience.  If you’re interested, click here.  And by the way, yes, there will be models.  Models are going to be “lifeguards”.

If you REALLY wanna go see a YouTube video live, then enjoy. However, there are caveats to being an audience member. I just attended yesterday’s taping, and here are the points of “interest.”

Two half-hour episodes took 5 hours to tape. Make sure you bring something to do or someone to talk to. You may also want to bring in a bottle of water. We arrived at 11:30 AM…left at 6 PM and heard this announcement: “That’s staff lunch. Back at 7 for the next two shows.” Yes, they were gonna do TWO MORE!

The audience is required to STAND for the show. During stopdowns, the audience is permitted to sit and relax. Also, the audience is REQUIRED to hoot, holler, scream, yell, and other vocalizations in addition to the REQUIRED waving or beating of ThunderSticks, pennants, large flags, or pom-poms.

Don’t be surprised for lots of standing and sitting. Ridiculous stopdowns will occur (one show was stopped because a player’s helmet was on backwards).

I could go into more details about passable game play, horrible judging, and people not knowing anything about running a game show, but it’ll all be spoiler.

    Travis, did anyone win anything?

    SPOILER ALERT!!

Here’s how game play goes. Two teams of three people (guys v. girls, at least in the two eps that I saw) clad in skin-tight silver spandex (which leaves very little to the imagination). Four rounds total…

Round 1: 1-person Wall. Team captain makes it thru for 1 point.
Round 2: 2-person Wall. Other two teammates make it thru for 2 points.
Round 3: 3-person Wall. All three teammates make it thru for 3 points.
(Any number of players less than required = 0 points)

Round 4: 3-person Wall…moving at Double Speed. Any player thru gets 2 points…all three thru for 6 points and $5000 bonus.

Team with highest score (max possible: 12 pts.) wins $25,000 and plays the Blind Wall for $100,000.

Blind Wall: 1-person Wall. Player wears “Blackout Goggles” and has to rely on teammates’ instructions to get thru the wall.

All players playing must be within the marked “PLAY AREA” when the Wall reaches them for the wall to count. Otherwise, it’s “Not Clear.” Likewise if the Wall is cleared, but “too much” of the Wall is destroyed in the process.

Game 1: Burger Boyz v. Chick’n Wing Chicks
First three rounds = Nothing but wipeouts from both teams.
In Round 3 for the girls, they did clear the Wall, but they were well out of the “PLAY AREA.”
The guys finally scored points in Round 4, and won the game 2-0.
For the Blind Wall, no money.

Game 2: Battling Brothers (identical triplets) v. Sisters of Security
First three rounds: Perfection by the bros, wipeouts and Not Clears by the sisters.
Round 4: Bros get hung up in Double speed, perfection by the sisters for $5000 and a tie game.

Now, for a tie, what do you think should happen? Nope, you’re wrong. Both teams play the Blind Wall for a split jackpot of $50,000 each. But here’s the cruncher…NO ONE GETS THE $25,000 FOR WINNING THE GAME!!

    Bros Blind Wall: Tragic Fail.
Sis’ Blind Wall: Well out of the PLAY AREA, so Not Clear………………..

…..until Mark Thompson, from his perch over the arena said, “The judges have reversed their decision!!”

That’s about all I can say for now. Enjoy them when they air!
