GSN’s Rebranding Promises “to Put Winning Within Reach”

As we’ve gone over, GSN recently rebranded again.  A really nice rebranding which is so much better than “random pictures in the square logo” which we’ve been subjected to for the past few months.  With this, they have a new goal: to make sure winning is within reach of the 69 million have what GSN refers to as the “Gaming Gene,” either watching game shows or playing them online.

GSN says that as the economy gets worse and worse, the network will continue to develop the gaming gene with new television and online game shows because they are so inexpensive.  For instance, remember GSN has allegedly (although I can nearly promise) Newlywed Game remake and the network is currently shooting a pilot for a mystery show.

“To learn that a third of the nation enjoys both watching game shows and playing online games further propels us to continue making competitive entertainment that surprises and delights consumers,” said Heidi Diamond, GSN Executive Vice President. “Providing respite, relaxation, opportunities to experience victory and have a really, really good time is what will drive more consumers to play every day!”

I’d really love to see the network continue this trend of interactive.  Of course, I do think that abandoning the interactive television was a bad move if they want back in this direction.  If there is an inexpensive way to bring it back, I’d look at that.  But they are using what they have fantastically.  Bingo America utilizes an interactive television experience like I’ve never seen and it’s working very well.  Can’t wait to see what they do to bring it more in this area.  It’s great to see what is essentially Game Show Network back after the original GSN rebranding from a few years back really lost all energy after a year or so.

“Winning Within Reach”? I’ll believe it when I finally win on Bingo America, GSN Live, or GSN Radio. (Until that happens, their slogan should be “Putting Winning Out Of Reach”.)

All joking aside, I’m glad they’re finally starting to focus more on actual game shows, though I’d like to know which “scientitian” they consulted to come up with 69 million people having the gaming gene.

I’m guessing the “Mystery Pilot” will be for either The Dating Game or a relaunch of Whammy. (Hey, if it worked in the Phillipines…)

This is the clostest GSN has been to being Game Show Network in a few years

Just when you thought GSN (or Game Show Network) wasn’t going to surprise you…….guess what? THEY DID! Putting winning within reach should’ve been the slogan. So does this mean more winners? Well, you’ve reverted back to Game Show Network, so that’s a win for me. Now if you can bring back (as far as new episodes goes) all the good shows (Whammy, Russian Roulette, Cram) and get rid of all those poker and blackjack shows (which should be on ESPN anyhow), it would be good.
