GSN’s “Bingo America” Apparently Renewed for Third Season; Now Casting

GSN’s Bingo America has made some sort of GSN/Game Show Network history.  It’s the second game show in the network’s history to be renewed for more than a second season.  Casting has now begun for the show’s third season.  The only requirements are that you can’t have been on any GSN show in the past 3 years (sorry those who wasted your time on Freaking Million Dollar Cat Game Show) or any game show this past year.  $100,000 up for grabs if you have the basic knowledge of a high schooler.  Interestingly they are letting you nominate someone you think would be a good contestant as well, so go at it by clicking here.

EDIT: We should note, like always, that nothing’s 100% official until a press release comes out stating it.  But usually these casting calls are good signs.  Sorry for not putting this before, I generally do.

Pretty decent news for the network and the show.  As I’ve said a dozen times, I enjoy the show for what it is; a shell of a program made to sell off the at-home game which is making the money.  The end game this season is a vast improvement from Random Ass Matching of season one, and Richard Karn was an excellent choice for new host.  Ratings have gone up quite a bit this season  as well which is nice.  But again, the basic complaints about general production hasn’t been addressed.  I feel like we’re reminded of the at-home game more than the actual game play goes on.  Just put some sort of bug on the side of the screen saying, “Download cards at GSN.com.”  It’ll save a massive headache.  Throwing some sort of special prize ball in the hopper could really help, too.  This gimmick, much like Lingo, is going to die quickly and become irrelevant.  Don’t fall into the same trap Lingo did and coast along until the show stumbles.

There are a few other annoyances like the excessively obvious post production work, camera angles which showed obviously that balls aren’t being drawn from the hopper but being placed in the chute from backstage, and general stuff like that.  But this style of presentation has just become part of this era of game shows so I’ve given up on that.  But for what it is, I’m OK with the show and it’s nice to see GSN have some success with a show that barely made it to season two.

I figured that this show was being sponsored by the printer cartridge companies.

I guess it goes to show you that any show can be renewed as long as other people at home can win money (even “watching paint dry is more fun than” Bingo America).

I agree, Alex- they need to spice up the gameplay significantly. Include bonus balls that either double or add $500 to the pot, throw in some Prize balls, increase the amount of money someone can win in the bonus game (I can’t remember anyone stopping with less than $5000- is this GSN’s cruel way of saving money?). Otherwise, GSN’s going to fall into the old “network stagnation” pit (and I don’t see Catch 21 being able to pull them from the depths of ratings purgatory).

I would like to meet someone who has actually won on this show while playing at home. If ever there was a rip off Game show, Here it is. We,ve constantly read the rules and every time a winning card was submitted we would get an (oops Sorry not a winner). Maybe I should have studied on how to read between the lines first.

This may seem like old news, but here's something interesting about the Australian version.

    No wonder I never win.

I don’t believe GSN has any official word on an exact premiere date or whether the show has been cancelled at all.

By the way, Alex , I agree with you on the fact that nothing is 100% official until a press release comes out stating it. Well, as I type this, it’s been almost two years, and as far as I’m concerned, no such press release came out, so there ain’t going to be a Season 3!
