Sad news on the GSN front. GSN, the leader of interactive television, is discontinuing their nightly block of online play-along service after December 31. However, it seems like the new shows under development will somehow involve ITV. We’ll see what happens.
Dear iTV Players,
GSN’s last nightly iTV programming block will be on Dec. 31. Rest assured, though, that we remain wholly committed to bringing you the best interactive experience and are currently developing exciting new interactive programming for the coming year.
Over the years, all of you have created a unique online community and we are pleased to announce that we’ve developed a special chat feature so that you can continue talking with your GSN.com competitors while playing fan-favorite games like LINGO, CAMOUFLAGE, CHAIN REACTION, and THAT’S THE QUESTION (or, even while playing the FAMILY FEUD cash-game or multi-player LINGO PLUS). As always, we appreciate your feedback so please post your comments below.
Thank you for supporting GSN and we hope you’ll continue playing online at GSN.com.
Best,
Your Friends at GSN

For a network that as recently as 6-12 months ago was *so* singularly focused on iTV, this is a surprising development. I almost wonder if there was some kind of licensing issue with the software GSN’s used for ITV shows for years - perhaps the end of a licensing deal or some such. Or maybe they just got tired of patrolling the chat rooms for 12 year olds spewing out whatever vile garbage they can muster. Who knows.
Barrel down the hatches! Millions of newbies will whine and complain that ITV is gone.
The Chat feature AKA “The trash can for minors.” Hopefully they’ll have a filter ready.
