A huge fear I always have with marathons where viewers choose what they want to see. More often than not bloc voting occurs and it doesn’t really show what people like the most, it’s just a few fans voting way too much. It’s why I was afraid of the Viewer’s Choice marathon on GSN. However, with no real bloc voting that I could see, this year’s lineup and official standings are really interesting: all classics.
Not a sight of a GSN original or modern show anywhere. And the top show, $100,000 Pyramid, definitely interests me as it’s not on the lineup anymore. I’ve never been a fan of Tic Tac Dough, Bullseye, or The Joker’s Wild, though (numbers 4, 3 and 2). I’ve always thought they were a bit too brain-dead with all the same bonus round. Of course by today’s standards those shows are for geniuses, but still, I just don’t like them. Regardless, the schedule is really interesting and shows what people want to see. Click the break to see the entire lineup.

Nothing interesting then until 3:30pm-6:30pm E time, as Im always looking for new shows (shows NOT on GSN at the moment) and the first that applies to that would be Hot Potato at 3.30

I don’t really know if the list is from number 20 to number 1. I think maybe they just threw the shows on in no particular order.
Anyways, it looks like a great day for this classic Game Show Fan.

Great choices! I can’t remember all of my votes but I know I voted for “Bullseye”, “The Joker’s Wild”, “Tic Tac Dough” and “Treasure Hunt”, mainly because they don’t air on the schedule right now. I voted for several older shows too like “What’s My Line”, but all in all I’m really happy with the selections, even though some air daily already. The fact that not one single show from this current decade on GSN made the list shows me that the fans are speaking out and trying to tell GSN what they want to see! I enjoy some of the current shows too, especially “Camouflage”, but I remember several years ago when the Feast of Favorites had the likes of “Whammy!” on it, and I just cringed. Great voting, GSN and Buzzerblog fans!

Not bad. You think now the programming execs at GSN will get the message? Pyramid, Wheel, Joker and Tic-Tac-Dough (with Wink, thank you!) deserve weekday slots. The weekly shows (such as Greed, 21 and Weakest Link) should be put on weekends.

Actually, there are four shows before 3:30 that aren’t on the schedule (’Tattletales’, Eubanks ‘Card Sharks’, ‘Password’, and ‘Wheel’). Of course, three of them are from the G-T library, while ‘Wheel’ has been on the schedule more recently than the 3:30-6:30 shows. But I’m still looking forward to seeing all these shows. Clearly the old-school fans ruled the roost, as it’s all old-school shows with only eight that are currently on the schedule.
And I do think that the shows were ranked in order. Reasons being that all the rarely-seen and much-sought-after Sony shows all show up towards the end of the marathon, and that the schedule as a whole is rather erratic (PYL between two versions of ‘Password’, ‘Match Game’ between two Eubanks shows, etc). ‘100k Pyramid’ at #1 is not something I expected though.

I hope they do get the message. I would also like to see the 80’s version of Chain Reaction and Jackpot on the daytime schedule along with Tic Tac Dough, Joker’s Wild and Pyrmaid. I agree with Marc about Greed, 21 and Weakest Link being put on weekends.

This is the best lineup for a marathon I think GSN may possibly have had since Y2k.
I have NEVER seen Bullseye on GSN before, nor Jackpot, so those will be a treat to see, along with all the other ones (they could always get extra brownie points with me if the WOF is a daytime or shopping era primetime episode, teehee).
Props to GSN for doing this though. Let’s hope some of these rarely seen classics make their way back to regular time slots in the near future… :D

All I can say is: GSN needs to take this as a wake up call from its fans. The classics have always been their biggest draw. The shows at the top of the list need to find their way to regular spots on the schedule. It’s time to get back to basics.

One of the better lineups I’ve seen gsN pull off in recent memory, I must admit I’m a little dissapointed that it’s only 1 ep. of each but I’ll take it, especially since by my count (unless I’m forgetting something) 6 of those shows haven’t been seen on GSN in at least a year. and unlike you Alex, I’m a big fan of B & E shows so I’m delighted to see 4 of them made the list. BTW, a trivia fact: This is the first time a viewer’s choice/feast of favorites marathon will feature all 3 of the B & E big 3: The Joker’s Wild, Tic Tac Dough & Bullseye.

I just had a stroke. MAJOR win to the B-E trifecta, Treasure Hunt, Hot Potato etc.
But the one that made this for me? JACKPOT. My mom auditioned to be on the show in 1974 (she failed to win through the random selections) but I’ve always wanted to have an episode in my collection. The only episode I’ve ever seen is from the 1974 version, but that version is sadly lost, however, the fact we still get an episode hosted by Geoff makes me extremely happy.

note I count if we get an incarnation of it, or it airs in current syndication, its on the air, and hence my 3.30 time point

I got to look at my extremely old tape, but I think the Big 3 have been on a FoF. If not, it was some other form of Turkey Day marathon. I’m about 85% certain of this.

Yes. Joker and TTD made the 2002 Feast, and Bullseye and Joker in 2003.

#s 7 and 5 were the ones I really wanted to see. Personally, I could do without #8, but my eyes will be glued to the set for 10 hours Friday.

Exactly how I voted. Since we see TTQ, Lingo, and gazillions of DED repeats on GSN, the viewers spoke and took advantage of the vote. It will be a happy post-turkey day surprise. My only hope is that the episodes they air (especially with TTD, TJW, and TH) are not the same ones that aired during the ‘50 Greatest Game Shows’. I would love to see a 1973 ‘New Treasure Hunt’ episode that actually features Castrol GTX motor oil as a consolation prize.

The 1973-1978 Treasure Hunt is hung up in weird clearance issues (music, I think) so the episode selection may be limited. I was kinda hoping for Rose’s infamous $50,000 win on the 1981 version, but any TH will do.
I don’t think the Joker episode will be the same. The Top 50 episode was a neon-set era episode from towards the end of Jack’s run, while the commercial for Friday features Lucky Suit Hal and his miracle spin, from around 1978.

While I wish one of the MG’s was from the Ross Shaffer ‘90 run (for variety’s sake) and there were more shows not currently on the schedule mixed in, I’m so glad to see the B&E shows and Pyramid that I’ll let those slide.
Just to echo what some have already said, let’s hope that GSN learns that it pays to take some of these rare shows out of the vault. They seem to have listened to the response to those Saturday marathons of Trebek DD and Narz NYSI when trying to find replacements for Playmania in late night. But, the only way we can PROVE to them that it’s worthwhile to air them is to WATCH them now that we’ve VOTED them in.
Also, I know $10K Pyramid was being rerun-abused in its most recent slot, but why not have it replace SP (a show that gets back-to-back airings Mon-Fri in daytime already) in the late night Sunday/ early Monday slot? It’s had a little time to breathe now, and running it once a week would stretch out its run vs. a daily dose.

Super Password, twice-daily, is indeed a stretch. Hopefully, when they get to the final March 1989 episode (with Betty White destroying the ‘Magic Toaster’), they can slow down its viewings. Come to think of it, GSN might be trying to burn-off those shows.

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehaw! They finally have TTD and TJW! Hopefully they’ll keep them on the lineup! No GSN originals either! This is excellent! Do you want to know what would really make me happy? Not crunching credits!

It wouldn’t surprise me if the Password shows on GSN go into a brief hibernation when “Million Dollar Password” hits the air. LOVE that Pyramid is at the top of the list…always been my favorite.

Why would Password go into Hibernation while “Million Dollar Password” was on the air?

GSN finally is getting a clue of what most of us all want to see. I never understood why they stopped airing many of these when people want to see them. This schedule is where all those lost ratings are. The Barry and Eright shows (Tic Tac Dough, The Joker’s Wild, and Bullseye) are legends and I, for one, could sit and watch them all day long. To me, there is nothing like how they used to really showcase the art of friendly competition on these and other shows in the voter’s lineup. They also had catchy music and prize cues which is another integral part of what makes a show. Those were the kind that made me sit on the edge of my seat to see if the devil would come up, or maybe the dragon. In the case of Card Sharks and Pyramid, the suspense of doubling on the big money cards and the buzzer beaters in the Pyramid bonus. New shows of today will never be able to match how excellent these older shows were. I just wish GSN wouls start airing these again. Even if they were just to do special blocks a couple of times a week, like a Barry and Enright block (a.k.a, the famous Tic Tac Dough/Joker’s Wild hour from the 80’s when they came on back to back every night). Maybe this voter’s choice will get them to listen.

On GSN’s website, they now list “Viewer’s Choice marathon” instead of the show that was supposed to air, like they originally had there. I don’t know if Alex could check this out to see if the listing is the same or not.

It should be fine. They accidentally put the schedule up, I believe, and realized it just recently. I would have heard back if we were wrong.

I remember this exactly. Every popular show that aired seemed to be on there. This viewer’s marathon should hopefully help GSN see what viewers want. After all, it was the viewers who voted. I’d be willing to bet that if GSN would put some of these shows back on like Tic Tac Dough, Joker’s Wild, Bullseye, Hot Potato, and maybe even Scrabble and Sale of the Century (good Chuck Woolery and Jim Perry shows), their ratings would skyrocket. I would challange GSN that if they would bring shows like these back as a test for just a couple of weeks, and be sure to advertise that they would be on, the ratings would at least double. People have been screaming and begging for several years now to bring these back instead of doing so many originals that just go into reruns after only a short time. That gets old. If I had show like the ones on the marathon, I think I could watch 24/7 and never be tired of it. I just hope this gets through to them.

Gentlemen, please realize that there are reasons that GSN does air what it does on its usual schedule. And Joseph, people have asked time and again about Scrabble and $ale. It’s far too expensive to acquire from FremantleMedia on GSN’s budget, and the return just doesn’t figure to be worth it.

I have to agree with Joseph on everything but the Scrabble and Sale. Are there any certain reasons that GSN doesn’t air Joker’s Wild, Tic-Tac-Dough, and other similar shows in the library anymore? I could see where the cost would outweigh the benefit if they had to acquire the show, but for ones they already have in the library, I could see ratings going way up. It seems that the viewers vote makes a strong indication of what they want to see on at least some of the lineup. I couldn’t see making the whole lineup of all the old shows, but at least mixing some of them in at times like how they are doing now from 12a to 2a with Double Dare, Trivia Trap, Now You See it, and Beat the Clock. This would give viewers who want to see old shows again a time when they could while still keeping new and original shows on and coming in the future. I don’t really get into the money side of what it takes to air the old shows they have and what it takes for the new ones, but I would be curious to know what GSN’s reasoning is behind not bringing back any of the old shows at least some of the time.
