Tomorrow night, GSN airs the Game Show Countdown: Top Ten Hosts at 8/7c. GSN has ran a promo for it, you can view it here. There a few things to take note of in this promo:
Now, this is only speculation, but it seems like we’ll see three shows that haven’t aired on GSN in years (WoF, TPiR, and LMaD), and we’ll see something that was never meant to air (Match Game). This could be exciting.
EDIT: I saw another promo that also had clips from Tattletales and Martindale Tic Tac Dough. Set the VCR/TiVo if you haven’t already.

I’ll bet 20 bucks that #1 is going to go to Gene Rayburn just like how GSN did their 50 greatest shows of all time, they placed Match Game over TPIR, I am going to guess that they’ll do the same here.

I didn’t watch it but my prediction would be this
1- Gene Rayburn- Match Game
2- Richard Dawson- Family Feud
3- Bob Barker- The Price Is Right
4- Pat Sajak- Wheel Of Fortune
5- Alex Trebek- Jeopardy
6- Chuck Woolery- Lingo
7- Monty Hall- Let’s Make A Deal
8- Wink Martindale- Tic Tac Dough
9- Bert Convy- Tattletales
10- Bob Eubanks- Either Newlywed Game or Card Sharks

I watched it tonight and overall it was good. They certainly gave Bil Dwyer a lot of time?!? (I don’t get that, even if it is GSN.) However, how do you leave off Dick Clark, Bert Convy and Peter Marshall??? You don’t even throw Peter a “Best Host of a Celebrity Game Show”? They probably should have done a two hour special. It would have gotten decent ratings and probably a lot of fans wouldn’t be upset over the omissions. Here were the others I thought they missed: Tom Kennedy, Jack Barry, Jim Lange, Gary Moore, and Bud Collyer.

I would have to agree with John… if this was my list, I think I would have left out “Millionaire” hosts… because that show wasn’t really on a very long time like “Hollywood Squares” with host Peter Marshall… and I was totally surprised that Dick Clark wasn’t on the Top 10 List… he hosted various Game Shows as well as American Bandstand for 35 years. Jack Barry alone hosted “The Joker’s Wild” for plenty of seasons… nothing was said about him or the fact that he was victim to the “quiz scandall.”
You’re right John, they should of had a 2-hour special and perhaps a Top 15 or Top 20 Game Show Hosts… rather than Top 10.

Well, the list, as a whole, was better than the 50 greatest GS’s of all time, but, there were some glaring omissions.
As others have said, Dick Clark was one such example, and with the short time Millionaire has been in the U.S., Regis seemed a bit out of place. There was no mention of GSN standby Peter Tomarken (who I think was a large part of why PYL has remained popular), jim lange wasn’t mentioned, sajak and woolery were a bit low, IMHO (what a surprise, LOL), Allen Ludden was given only a brief mention, and I do think the whole concept would’ve better worked as a 15 or 20 greatest hosts, and/or a 2 hour special…
