GSN representatives just emailed us a statement they made about the cancelation of Quiznation. I thought this may interest those of you who enjoy it.
Dear PlayManiacs,
We have greatly appreciated your support of our PlayMania efforts over the last 19 months; it’s been an amazing experience and we’re glad to see that you’ve enjoyed playing along. It goes without saying that we’ve learned much from your feedback (so keep it coming) and while it’s true that quiznation’s last night will be October 31, we have even bigger and better participation opportunities in store for you all in the coming months. As soon as we’ve set all the details, you’ll be the first to know. We’d say more, but we don’t want to spoil the surprises.
Sincerely,
Your Friends at GSN

Well it will be interesting to see what the little suprise is. We will probably here something at the TCA Announcements in January.

I’m taking this statement has not really a cancelation but a hiatus that will lead to a reformatted version.

Do you think this is more of the production company having problems (as it’s been said) than anything else? If that’s the case, they might be waiting till after the first of the year, then doing something with another group perhaps..

(Clearing Throat) Um, you wanna bet that these “bigger and better participation opportunities in store for you all in the coming months” become either nothing, or worse than the Playmania of the last five months, which ruined the show?

My guess is that, although GSN probably wants to bring back a “bigger and better participation opportunity”, it’s more likely that 88slide.com will start back up before another latenight call-in show arrives on GSN.

I hope it’s a good surprises. But still got a question unanswered: Why did they change it that was already successful?

I agree with what John S. aid about changing a perfect format into soemthing unnessacary…… IF it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! (Too late for that now.)

I have a feeling the bigger and better surprise is Regis at 12 and Trivia Trap/NYSI at 1

They turned a show with a deserved cult following into a typical UK-style phone lottery and expected people not to, ahem, call them on it?
Thought not.
Terrified of what’s coming next now. Bet the next incarnation of GSN Call And Lose is even worse.

Well if GSN does have a new reformatted version of (unknown name) in the future then I hope Shandi returns and ONE other host. That’s it. It doesn’t take 4 to get through the week. Like Xavier said, we might hear something in the forthcoming TCA announcements in Jaunary..maybe.

Devon, Marc, I don’t think it’s coming back in any form.
Hopefully these new interactive opportunies will be something that’s actually worth watching.
(And I’d like to say to AP and John S. taht, IMO, this show was a piece of dreck even before the changes everyone attacked.)

This was a terrible show. While the prizes got bigger, the games lasted longer because they wanted more people to waste their money sending text messages and getting the message back that either they didn’t get entered or that they have a 1 in 1,000,000 chance of being called for being on the show. I understand not everyone can win, but this is crazy. I can win radio contests…I know that’s on a much smaller scale, but still…this was way too big for me to get my hopes up, and yet I still wasted money on text’s anyway until I realized it was a scam and quit.

Well, it really wasn’t That bad until the final five months. The first time I won was 6/2/06. I won $50.

I was a faithful viewer of playmania/quiznation since about last October, and I have to say the show used to be worth watching. I don’t know what happened or why they changed the original format which was very successful. I am just hoping that the new show will come sooner rather than later and that it will be more like the original format. Oh and Jessica as a host!!

An on-screen crawl 4 minutes into the final GSN Quiznation indicated that a new participation game will premiere in January.
So… it’s only *mostly* dead?

I miss Jessica, Shandi, and Angelle. Not Jeff. Nothing against him, but the girls made the show worth watching. Hopefully they are back when/if the show revives.
