GSN Loves the 70’s and “Press Your Luck”

Posted by Alex Davis On July - 30 - 2008

GSN has a few marathons and specials coming soon that you might be interested in. First, on Labor Day, a Press Your Luck marathon will be coming your way. From 9:00AM to 7:00PM you’ll see a large series of episodes which someone who knows the episode numbers would probably understand a lot more than I do. Next, on September 7th from 1:00PM to 8:00PM, GSN is dedicating themselves to all things 70’s.

From 1:00PM to 7:00PM will be a marathon of three very popular 70’s shows: Dating Game, Let’s Make a Deal, and Match Game. All episodes of Dating Game will be featuring host Jim Lange and will include such celebrities as Michael Jackson, Suzanne Somers, Ron Howard, and Pee Wee Herman. Michael Jackson on a dating show! Picking up women! His age! But in all seriousness, there’s got to be a reason GSN is playing Dating Game…

Let’s Make a Deal all features Monty Hall and Carol Merrill, and Match Game is the favorite Gene Rayburn version obviously. At 8:00PM is the new hour long special Laugh Out Loud: 70’s Game Shows, which will highlight the famous, surprising, and memorable moments of the most popular and lesser known game shows of the 70’s thru interviews with the stars and pop culture icons of that decade.

New PDF GSN schedules have been uploaded on the right sidebar.

If that PYL marathon included either a bunch of pre-’84/post-’85 episodes, or the Big Bucks PYL Larson documentary special, I’d be sold. Alas, ’tis not to be.

The “Laugh Out Loud: ’70s Game Shows” special has me intrigued. If they land the likes of Jim Perry or Jim Peck, I’d tune in without a second thought. They need to come out with one for ’80s Game Shows as well.

I’m all for a ’70s marathon, but I want to see other game shows from the ’70s such as Three on a Match or ABC’s version of Password (I know almost all of them have been wiped, but there are a couple of episodes of each). I would also love to see The Better Sex. I was a baby when this show aired, so I don’t even remember this show. Marc, sorry about your situation, but maybe you could get digital cable. GSN is available on most digital cable systems.

  5. Xavier Said,

Just to correct something Alex. The special about the 70’s Game Shows will air at 7:00pm not 8:00pm.

My Only Comment on “Instant Recall”

Was it just me or was Instant Recall pretty tough?  If that’s what GSN thinks a tongue-in-cheek retro-style game show is, no wonder they are having so many problems.  It looks like a bad cable access show.  I feel bad…
