A few weeks ago, we were informed that GSN Live, GSN’s daily interactive talk/game show, would not be expanding into the 3PM to 6PM hours until later this year. Apparently later this year meant a week or so later. We were just informed that the extension will start on September 15th and will focus on more modern shows like Lingo, Weakest Link, Chain Reaction, and more.
And now we get to the many decades marathons GSN will be doing. So far, we’ll be seeing different marathons and specials for the 70s, 80s, and 90s. I think we went over the first one, but for good measure, a Play it Back Decades: 70s marathon will be on Sunday, September 7th, from 1PM to 7PM. In the marathon will be two hours each of Dating Game, Let’s Make a Deal, and Match Game. All of this is followed by Laugh Out Loud: 70s Game Shows, focusing on some of the best moments of 70s game shows.
Next weekend, on Sunday, September 14th, will be Play it Back Decades: 80s. From 1PM to 3PM is Bob Eubanks and Card Sharks. From 3PM to 5PM is Press Your Luck. Finally, from 5PM to 7PM is the triumphant return of Dick Clark and $25,000 Pyramid. You read that right. Not only is it the good non Osmond infested version, but a version we haven’t seen in quite some time. At 7PM is Laugh Out Loud: 80s Game Shows where, again, GSN will show off some great 80s game show moments.
As you could have guessed, Sunday, September 21st will be all 90s. However, this one is a bit of a letdown. It’s nothing you can’t see regularly as far as I know. First you have two hours of Wheel of Fortune, then two hours of Ray Combs Family Feud, followed by two hours of the hour long Who Wants to be a Millionaire?. I really don’t know what episodes specifically will be shown because a PDF isn’t available yet, but the hosts and shows are for sure as of now. And at 8PM will be a 90s best of special.
PDFs will be updated momentarily.
Edit: Forgot to include this. On the week of August 18th, Jimmie Walker will be appearing on GSN Live. Because of this, all Match Game episodes at 1:30PM will feature Walker as a panelist.

Glad to see the $25K Pyramid is coming back. I’m disappointed about the Eubanks CS and PYL, because we can see those any day of the week.
The 90’s marathon is kind of iffy. Maybe if WOF is from say, 1991-94 and/or includes Raymond Taylor, then I’d watch.

…If the Wheel episodes are 1994-95, *then* it becomes a disappointment, at least to some folks. If they’re NOT - that’s another story.

I think we should be happy that they are even recognizing the classics in these marathons. They could just show the same episodes of Dog Eat Dog and Camouflage every Sunday afternoon.
Good job GSN.

The Clark $25,000 Pyramid returns! GSN is actually making smarter decisions, how about that?
Anyway, can’t wait for the marathons, although I’m still anxious as to what the two planned revivals will be for GSN!

Wouldn’t it REALLY be shocking if the episodes GSN showed for “The $25,000 Pyramid” were from 1983 to 1987? Then their BS excuse for ‘not coverting tapes’ idea would REALLY be exposed!

To Duane:
No, this is what they will be showing for this marathon:
Lynn Redgrave & Billy Crystal (1/13/83 and 1/14/83)
Denise Miller & Michael J. Fox (7/13/83)
Vicki Lawrence & Harry Anderson (9/15/83)

It’s really (emphasis on really) nice to see the $25k Pyramid back on GSN. Now if only they will bring back the $100k version. As for the 90’s marathon, I’m ok with Wheel of Fortune, but why not air any of the Bob Goen version? Intelligentfan777, you’re right. GSN is making smart decisions, just don’t tell them that (it just might get them a swell head).

As for the ’80s, I would’ve went with both the NBC & USA versions of Chain Reaction, Double Talk, Now You See It ‘89 (I know Chuck Henry didn’t want this version to air in reruns, but maybe Fred Roggin, who works with Henry on KNBC 4 L.A. would talk him into letting GSN air it just for one day), and the Davidson version of H2.

Great to see that GSN is dusting off some CBS “$25,000 Pyramid” episodes to be put on that special marathon, although they have shown some of them previously earlier in this past decade, such as on “The Golden Pyramid Awards” and “Pyramid Thursday” blocks back in 2002. Now if only GSN can bring back the 1970’s era ABC “$20,000 Pyramid” that has been sitting in their vaults collecting dust for quite some time now.

You know, I haven’t thought about the $10/20k Pyramid. We haven’t seen those episodes in a while. Nor have we seen the Peter Marshall version of H2. I hate to be a Dr. Phil but “What is GSN thinking?”

As for the 90’s edition of Laugh Out Loud, anyone thinking we may see the “Michael Jackson Incident” of MG98? :D
