Hey, everyone! We’re back. Things went fantastic in New York City and I hope to tell you more soon but I’d rather remain quiet about it for a bit longer. Thanks for all your positive messages and comments, I really appreciate it. But this is a site for game show opinions, so we’re back to it. Be sure to keep communicating, though. I assure you, some pretty important people read what you have to say and value it.
It’s no secret around here that I’m a huge fan of GSN’s original show That’s The Question now in its second season. One thing I’ve always wondered is how difficult it is to play with the intense speed and pressure. It’s something host Bob Goen and I discussed before. GSN is now letting you discover how tough and fun it is with a new mini-game which you can play by clicking here.
The online game works exactly the same way the show does. Stop the randomizer and answer questions. The extra letter goes into the puzzle. Solve the puzzle when you know it for some extra points. After two rounds your points are converted to seconds to solve the final puzzle. It’s a fantastic game and the perfect compliment to a fantastic show.
The game even addresses one issue I have with the show. There’s really no incentive to rattle off the question for a while as you don’t gain that many points. On the online game you get a point per letter not placed in the question when you solve it. That’s a pretty good fix to that problem if you ask me.

Hm… Worked on IE, not Firefox… That’s unusual…
Anyway, this was a really nice game. I’ve never been a fan of GSN’s trend of three-strikes-and-game-over games though. I’d rather maybe have a five-point deduction for a missed question instead of a strike. Also, the difficulty didn’t seem consistent at all. In one game, I had “What is something you wear on your head? (ATQH)” and “What is the longest English word that has no repeating letters?” I can’t remember the letters used for that one, but it was something like a sixteen-letter anagram, which OBVIOUSLY I can solve off the top of my head. Otherwise, it was a fun game to play a few times over.

I also played TTQ for the first time a few days ago, and agree it is a fantastic online game. The show, of course, is also great, and I’ve already wasted more time then I’ve should’ve on GSN.com because of it… ;)
Oh, and btw, my high score was approximately 498k points, under the initials MWD, in case ya wanted proof. :D

I don’t know how that’s possible but I believe you.
the point structure is more like the french version where you score based on how many letters are left and i think its double for filling in the question (i.e. finishing with 12 letters left would be 24 points) and on that version the host wil actually ask contestants in the latter parts of the round if they have a guess which is better than you have to interrupt Bob before the randomizer starts.

Just got 12th place with something like 565,000 points.
How to get such a high score: In the final round, whack the stop button as fast as you can, don’t pay any attention to the Question, and just plow through as many anagrams as you can. If you fill in the whole Question before your accumulated time runs out (i.e., you don’t need the extra 30 seconds to answer), you score as though you guessed the Question without filling any letters in.

The theme song is one you’d snap along to.
