GSN Hires Stephen Croncota as Chief Marketing Officer

I love the business of television.  It’s why I like bringing you stories like this.  GSN announced late yesterday that they have hired Stephen Croncota as the Chief Marketing Officer of the network.  Stephen reports to CEO David Goldhill and is responsible “for shaping all aspects of GSN’s brand.”  Croncota previously worked for E! as the senior vice president of marketing, senior vice president of programming for Style; SVP, Creative Director for Cartoon Network, and CMO for Versace in Italy.  Click here to read a statement from Croncota.

In a release, Stephen Croncota said, “I’m very excited to be joining the great team at GSN, and to get the chance to build upon what’s already a robust foundation. The brand holds a proprietary position in the worlds of gaming, competition and fun, across multiple media platforms—and that’s a powerful place to be. I look forward to helping create and promote breakthrough entertainment at GSN, and aggressively growing our audience, brand and market.”

This Stephen Croncota isn’t a replacement for Kelly Goode is he? I just want to get this straight.

  • Anderson DelValle says:

Well good luck to Croncota. He’ll need all the help he can get reshaping the abyss of garbage that is GSN.

On the other hand, it seems like Millionaire contestants are coming from Central Casting these days, supremely annoying. The Jewish cowboy from Philly on the show today, case in point.

  • GSN Fan says:

Hopefully a good thing for GSN……

  • Wayne says:

Maybe this guy will “get” what’s wrong and actually do something about it, but will the decision to right the ship be his or will corporate be as screwball as ever…stay tuned.

  • Jay says:

I just hope there aren’t a lot of drama filled shows coming back a-la Chuck Woolery’s and Carney Wilson’s shows (the drama one…not the game shows).

  • Scott says:

Never heard of this guy, but I’m intrigued that he was the Senior Vice President of Cartoon Network. Maybe he’ll be a good fit for GSN, considering that he came from a TV network dedicated to promoting games for kids, so he should have a bit of an idea of what “family-oriented game show programming” is all about. We’ll have to wait and see I guess.

Just remember that what we’re actually looking for, correct me if I’m wrong, is a person who will become the Senior Vice President for GSN’s programming department, taking over from where Kelly Goode left off. Having Concord on the team might be a good idea overall, but it’s meaningless if he doesn’t play in part in deciding the programming schedule for the network, or what programs GSN looks at acquiring in the future.

  • ANWAR WASHINGTON says:

Yeah, he needs to reshape GSN and i’m not gonna take no bull on Mr. Croncota!!

  • Ben Mason says:

Tell the guy to put Who Wants to Be a Millionaire back in he 8:00 spot. Deal or No Deal is being shown way too much.

  • Devon says:

Good luck to him in all respects. GSN has fallen off a cliff in my view since DoND storm came back on the schedule. Not having that. I’ll watch other networks like Cartoon Network and The Hub until GSN rights things.

  • David says:

I don’t care who GSN hires; it’s useless at this point to think anything will change. If anything, I expect things to get worse, because every single time I expect better, they find a new way to fail. It’s only a matter of time before it goes completely under.

  • Sam Lees says:

The 1st thing i would like to see Mr.Croncota do is get rid off all the crappy, horse mnure original stuff and then bring back some great classic game shows,i would be absolutely overjoyed if that happened and it would restore my faith in GSN. But i won’t hold my breath on it.

  • Sam Lees says:

I sincerely hope Mr.Croncota can clean up the mess that his predecessor left behind.

  • Digifan23 says:

Let’s just hope he can trun GSN around seeing he was Creative Director for Cartoon Network
(a network that SHOULD be showing more cartoons not more Crap)
