Game Show Casting: “Perfect 10″, New GSN Shows, and Embassy Row Quiz
We’ve got some updates on game show casting coming in and also some updated news on the actual shows themselves. We’ve finally found more about NBC’s Perfect 10. The show is now casting and click here to apply. Originally it sounded vaguely like the UK show which is coming to FOX The Cube. In Perfect 10 you have to do, as it was originally described, household chores in a minute, with a $1,000,000 top prize for completing ten. Now it’s actually a complete Cube clone. You just have to do different stunts and challenges using household items, like coins or things like that, in a minute. So it’s pretty clear who copied who. It doesn’t really help either since it still sounds boring. The Cube is interesting because of the presentation. If it had the same presentation we’ve seen for the past few years I don’t think it would have been as popular. FOX has the edge because of the futuristic feel to accompany mundane activities. So if you can pick up coins for $1,000,000 in a minute click here to get involved.
Looks like GSN has also picked up a show teased about previously. It’s a hidden camera show called Honey, Please from Embassy Row. As we had it originally described, “One person convinces the other to do some light hearted and non-hazardous for money. The activities will apparently be taken place in their house and cameras will be placed there for a day.” The show piloted around April or May but more casting notices have gone out so it looks like we’ve got a series pickup here. There’s no complete guarantee this is GSN but it’s looking likely.
It leaked out on some other place’s comment section so I guess I can finally talk about it and we’ll say it came from them, but other series in apparent pre-production are (allegedly) a UK import Come Dine With Me, a Muppet-hosted show, a cartoon game called Bizarro, and some others. A bunch of winners, eh? In the interest of full disclosure, we didn’t talk about this stuff before because last time we found out some development info and posted it we had lawyers talk to us and say we couldn’t do this. I’m pretty sure we can since we’re just reporting and the info didn’t come from sources within the network at all but I was just done with dealing with them at that point. But this came from another blog’s comment site and GSN’s message boards so I’m in the clear here. I bet you wish I didn’t say anything, do you? It’s looking pretty rough.
Embassy Row is casting for another pop culture quiz show right now. No idea what it is but they are asking for college students to pair together in a pop culture quiz competition. It’s for a major cable network so you’re guess is as good as mine. Not even a hint as to what this is. These companies are getting smart. It’s making me sad. Click here for that.

Sounds like Beat the Clock to me…
F*** GSN and their lawyers anymore, seriously. They'll need bankruptcy lawyers before long with THIS kind of upcoming programming.
Goldhill and crew will get nice fat bonuses whether the network stays on or falls into the abyss so they don't care
Sounds like the Beat the Clock HOME game to me!
Has anybody seen Greg Grunberg (from NBC's Heroes) hosting this- McDonalds Million Dollar Roll, on the Jay Leno Show? I'm getting the idea, that Matt Parkman wants the hosting gig on Pefect 10. Would that be cool with y'all?
uh…no. He definitely has enthusiasm. But he'd need to dial it WAY down.
Does that show from Davies sound suspiciously like World Series of Pop Culture to anyone else?
To be honest, that's a show that really needs to come back. That was a great sereis for VH1, very well done. I really would love for it to be said project. Although Twisted Misters need to reunite and defend their title.
Hmm, a pop culture show from Endimol? Looks like a copy of the World Series of Pop Culture to me. I think E! should run with this one since it's basically an entertainment channel.
As for Perfect 10, meh. Even if you slightly alter the format a bit, it still sounds nundane to me.
Honey, Please sounds interesting but, doi I dare watch it? We'll see what transpires out of that. As for GSN itself, unless I wanna upgrade ny cable, GSN's stayin' outta my picture for awhile.
I'm curious about that Davies show as well. It sounds like modifying WSoPC to make it an all-college tournament (Sort of WSoPC meets ESPN's Super Bowl of Sports Trivia). I like that concept, given the popularity of pop culture "trash" tournaments on the U.S. college quiz bowl circuit. We talked about where an Americanized "Only Connect" could air — so what about the Davies show airing on ESPNU or CBS College Sports?
What's the status on Fox's The Cube?
As far as I know, it's still a go. We're just waiting for Fox to deliver & execute the order, that's all.
