“Family Feud” Hits 3.0 Rating
The good news keeps rolling in for the long running syndicated game show Family Feud. The Steve Harvey hosted game show has first been renewed through 2015, meaning this current version will have at least a sixteen year run. The other good news is that the ratings keep growing. For the first time in any records I can find, Family Feud has hit the 3.0 rating mark.
I’m having trouble finding a higher rating for the show in syndication ever, so this could be a series high unless someone can correct me. The show has firmly taken the third place slot behind Wheel of Fortune (7.0) and Jeopardy! (5.9). It now has a comfortable lead above Who Wants to be a Millionaire, which also hit a season high of 2.6.

This is remarkable! 5 years ago..really 3 years ago..I NEVER thought “Family Feud” would hit 3.0! This is outstanding! Congrats to the team and especially Steve Harvey!
It never would have hit a 3.0 with Karn or O’Hurley hosting, that’s for sure.
Especially not with Karn. He’s such a sleeping pill.
Amazing accomplishment by the Family Feud crew – wonderful job to Steve Harvey and the crew for taking Feud to new heights not seen before in it’s syndication run! This show has everything going for it – the show has a right mix of iconic tradition with the set and music, and a modern, fresh host in Steve Harvey that is witty, hilarious, full of energy, and brings an element not seen since the Dawson days. Congrats on 3.0 and many more ratings successes to come!! Congrats as well on 3 more years at least!
THANK YOU for the comments!
We look forward to a future full of fun & laughs!
Stay tuned!!
No, thank you. You guys are keeping it fresh, so that 3.0 rating is well deserve. Keep it up, you guys.
That’s why fans and haters of the show STILL watch it!! It’s too good to NOT watch! Like its been said…Steve Harvey is probably the best host since Dawson!
We love it when the haters watch. ha ha ;-)
Just like I’ve said time and again about other shows, it’s the writing. The current crop of survey questions are made for creating the answers that give Steve Harvey the chance to make it great–for the first time ever, I find myself tuning in when I see it on because I know I’ll at least get a good laugh even if I don’t really like the overall game.
As someone else already said, Steve Harvey is easily the best host since Richard Dawson… and I was a big Ray Combs fan. The previous 3 hosts were unwatchable, but Steve is bringing something fresh and I laugh during each episode.
Could it be possible to have a week of “Feud” shows for charity with the five former “Feud” hosts(Richard Dawson, Louie Anderson, Richard Karn, John O’Hurley, and Al Roker) verses “The Price is Right/Let’s Make A Deal” (Drew Carey, George Gray, Wayne Brady, Johnathan Mangum, and Tiffany Coyne) for a sweeps period down the road?
I doubt Louie would return, only because of that incident that more or less resulted in him leaving the show. But I do like the idea of the Fremantle showdowns.
3.0 Rating is great for Family Feud, but still a long way behind Wheel and Jeopardy’s ratings.
Anybody have access to the ratings data for the nighttime(syndie) versions of Combs and Dawson?
I think Richard’s might have been 3.0, but it would be hard to tell. I know Combs’ version wasn’t cleared in some cities.
HD, I don’t know the actual numbers, but I would bet that the 1978-1985 Dawson syndie version topped a 15.0 rating for most of its run. Remember, most American households did not have cable or a VCR until 1987. For most TV viewers back then, it was ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS and maybe an independent station or two.
The World Almanac lists the previous season’s syndicated ratings in each issue. I remember seeing that Dawson’s Feud got around a 12.0-15.0 rating in the early-80s (in 1983-84, Wheel trounced it 16.0 to 8.0).
The first season of Combs’s version got around a 6 rating…nowadays that would likely put it in the Top 5 or 10, but back then it was near the bottom of the Top 20 or 25.
I wish ABC KMIZ 17 would bring back Family Feud. They dropped it after the John Hurley era.
