This is promising news for the long-time game show: “Family Feud”, currently hosted by John O’Hurley, has been cleared by 85% of the country, including 49 of the top 50 markets, which is really nice. Denbar-Mercury recently acquired the show, and for the 2007-2008 season, 20th Century will be handling the ad sales. I hope the show gets some much needed love because, in my opinion, I feel the show has done a complete U-turn in quality this season. Richard Karn was dull and not funny, the set was lacking, and it just didn’t feel right. The changes they made this season seemed to return the show to it’s old glory. I can feel a bit of a Richard Dawson in new host John O’Hurley. Maybe that’s just me. Opinions from you all?

Only one… that whole Dawson:Hurley bit? Totally lifted from me… or at least I put the thought into your head … or something :)

Hahaha, hey, who else but you, lol. You are right, though, completely. He is our next Dawson I feel.

The very first time I saw O’Hurley host I said to my mom “hmm a little Richard Dawson in O’Hurley” (maybe the way he interacted with some contestants) whereas Mom thought he was stiff (??!!).
If Feud continues I guess we can rule out John O’Hurley as Bob Barker’s successor.

I agree that O’Hurley is a good host, but the set to me is just horrible. Trying to combine the Dawson set with the Karn effects-to me it’s just wayyy out of place. Either tone down on the Karn parts or the Dawson parts, but don’t just try to think it can fly like this.

The set is MUCH better than the Anderson/Karn versions. Only problem I have is the scoreboard. They should just keep it where it was in the original places. What they need to do is just get those camera angles to show the score. If they can’t (and I would not be suprised if they don’t), then they should just keep the scoreboard in the podium section.

The only way it will reallty be good is if it offers a chance to win up to $100,000 every day, like the Austrailian version does.

I think $20K is just fine, thank you, Mr. McBride. It’s syndication, sir.
I think this show just got rejuvenated. I do agree that the SFX are out of place, but that’s because they’re all sampled, unlike the Dawson Era, where everything was more mechanical. I’d prefer the real dings and buzzers any day myself, but what can you do?
And while O’Hurley *may* be a little stiff, it’s much smaller of a gripe than what was wrong with the two before him. Ugh. No one’s gonna be Richard, so stop hoping for it.

Pant, pant…sorry, catching my breath after a really, really, good episode of 1 vs. 100 tonight. I won’t spoil, but for those that haven’t seen it yet, it’s really, really, good.
Anyway, John is by far and away the best host the Feud has had in a long time. Happy it’s sticking around, it rightfully should, thank you.
Let’s play the FEEEEEEEEUUUUUUUD!

I’m glad that they’ve finally made some solid improvements to the show (set, host). I still don’t find the show compelling enough to be “appointment TV”, but it’s good for what it is. John O’Hurley does a nice job, and I hope that he sticks there rather than moving to “The Price is Right”, since this show is well-suited for his style.
At the beginning of the season in our market, Family Feud got moved to a morning slot on a low-power independent station. However, a few months in, it returned to a good afternoon slot on our network affiliate. Our station has been promoting it a lot lately too, so I’m glad that the show is finally turning around.

Offering the $100,000 top prize (which, in the Australian version, involves the first bonus round contestant getting ALL 5 No. 1 responses, not an easy feat) would add a good bit of intrigue. I haven’t watched consistently for quite some time; are families allowed to return an unlimited number of games? I think this is the case, but if not, it should be. Speaking of Australian shows, I can’t wait for Temptation ^_^

It’s great news since I heard this last week at a taping of the Feud. I asked Burton whether the show would be renewed for another year and the whole crew said yeah! In my area, Feud airs on KTXL FOX 40 at 11 and 11:30 AM since it moved from KOVR CBS 13 at 9 AM last year. So I do believe it’s shown alot of growth and since it is also going to tie the run that Richard Dawson had in the original run from 1976-1985. Way to go John!

I hate that set! I think they should either resurrect the old Dawson or Combs set and the classic music (I hate that 21st century theme). Also, does the audience have to applaud after a strike or a zero in the bonus round? Talk about a total let down. I like the $20,000 bonus round but couldn’t they also add the points in the main game like Dawson and Combs did? Watch the classic episodes on GSN and see what I mean.

Since Feud was revived, John O’Hurley has been the best host we have seen since combs. Granted, Dawson was a great host, O’Hurley isn’t going to be him. If he keeps this up, his charm, his wit, and the way he keeps the game going will keep him going for quite a while.

My personal opinion only, but I do love that new set, and O’Hurley has been the best host of FF since Combs (Ray is my personal favorite of all the Feud hosts).
Don’t change the Feud around again for awhile, it’s nice having the oval background and the classic blues in the set, IMHO. Remember, it already went through some drastic changes from last season to this, and too many changes in a short period of time has historically hurt viewership. The most I’d might do right now, the emphasis on MIGHT, is make the top prize 25k, which might somewhat satisfy all the ppl yearning for mo money.
Maybe, ONLY a maybe, 5 or 10 years down the line, if they wanted to up the budget, double the jackpot if a family can get 200 pts in Fast Money with just one person, instead of both. That would be a reward well received, IMO…

As for the Duluth-Superior area, I think Family Feud will remain on KBJR-TV (Channel 6) for another season at 4:00?
