Fall 2010 Preview: “Family Feud”

Many shows are going through big changes for their Fall 2010 debut.  If you read us with any consistency, then you know Family Feud is having quite a bit.  They’ve moved to Orlando and reverted back to the format it’s been before this past season, where the Bullseye round was added in.  However, the most obvious and important change is the new host Steve Harvey.  We’ve posted a few clips of him before and we’ve gone over practically everything to expect.  So to get you excited for Monday, September 13th, when the new season debuts, here are two more clips of Steve.  John O’Hurley was loved in the role, and it was going to be hard to replace him, but they managed to do it.

I hope that they do some more taping at Universal next year. I was there while they were filming, but couldn’t get in to watch the shows with my 9-year-old daughter. Couldn’t understand that fact: She was eligible to be a contestant, but not sit in the audience.

    • Wayne says:

Off the top of my head I would have to say the requirement is there because as a contestant, she signs all the forms (and there are PAGES of forms), along with parent/guardian, giving the OK to be on TV, use likeness, blah, blah, blah…

But as an audience member, nothing/almost nothing needs to be signed at all and she might show up on camera, and there’s way too much legal mumbo-jumbo to deal with if something gets back to them that the kid was really your niece and you didn’t really have permission to sign for her.

I was leery when I heard John was leaving but I’m looking forward to Steve Harvey. Not too sure about the set though … too futuristic, not enough classic.

  • Marc Power says:

lol, in that first clip, Steve was practically channeling Richard Dawson and his reaction was great.

and speaking of the set, I like it, kinda reminds me of the one from Bert’s family Feud (the latest aussie version)

I love Steve Harvey and I can’t wait for the new season starting Monday.

  • Chas says:

A comedian hosting this show is a good choice. The first clip was a riot. I agree with another poster that Harvey was channeling Richard Dawson’s sharp, funny commentary of what he thought was a bad answer.

It’s a nitpick point and has nothing to do with Harvey, but is Arial the best font they could come up with for the toteboards?? Arial is overused. Having said that, I’m glad to see toteboards in two places – in front of each family’s platforms, and on either side of the answer board. If the cameras aren’t going to do ABC’s positioning of shots, they might as well have two toteboards on each side.

I just love it when Steve has a “melt down” when a bad answer (or what he believes to be a bad answer) is on the board. The reaction is priceless.

Philadelphia, the 4th largest market in the USA, gets slapped in the face as Feud was dropped by Fox 29 from its’ zombie hours timeslot for a Wendy Williams rerun. No one else picked it up, and again, I refuse to call Allentown part of the Philadelphia mkarket since it’s catrried on cable.

Also, Don’t Forget the Lyrics was not picked up by any station in Philly. Fuck Jerry Springer, courtroom shows and anything but game shows!

    • CB says:

I have yet to be able to see the show because I don’t know when it airs in the Philadelphia area. Do you have the station and time info? I would even watch it on the Allentown station if possible. My local listings show no info.

  • Alex says:

I wish I could get excited for this brand new season of Feud, but the station that was previously carrying the show in my area, WDRL, just got nuked off the air in August 2010 due to various legal issues! Hopefully, another station will pick it up…
