Endemol Casting for New Primetime Game Show “The Whole 19 Yards”

With the economy in the toilet and a potential actor’s strike happening, networks are going back to game shows to look for cheap, quick alternative programming.  Endemol is currently casting for a new one right now that doesn’t look like it’s been tried anywhere else yet.  This one is called The Whole 19 Yards.  Casting calls are asking for people with brains who are athletic.  So I’m guessing they make you do a combination of strength and quiz rounds of some sort.  They are sure to stress no gross out stunts, though.  Top prize is $50,000.  GSN piloted a similar idea a few years back, from Corbin Bernsen, called Pull Your Weight, having different competitions in brains, beauty, and brawn.  If you want to sign up and live or are visiting the LA area, click here.

Not sure if this is a cable primetime show or a network primetime show, but I’d expect to see lower top prize game shows while money is hurting severely and layoffs are happening, in addition to other jobs, to major networks.  If NBC can accept Howie Do It‘s ratings which are a good few million people less than something like 1 VS 100‘s, renew the show for a dozen more episodes, they’re going to because it’s much much cheaper than something else like Deal or No Deal.  And speaking of Deal or No Deal, NBC bumped the May 4th at 8:00PM ET for only three weeks; then it goes away.  It should be fun to see when they plan on taping these episodes, though, because they ran out of new episodes a while ago.
