FOX recently announced that their hit karaoke game show, Don’t Forget the Lyrics!, will be shifted to the Fall for a new series of episodes.  The show will air Thursdays at 9PM ET, following Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?.  This moves Kitchen Nightmares to Wednesdays at 9PM ET, Bones to Tuesdays at 8PM ET, and taking New Ampsterdam off the schedule until midseason.

The shows seemed destined to be together. They are both slow-paced “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” knock-offs, and the subject material isn’t exactly a MENSA test. Even those who are not smarter than a fifth grader are still getting a lot more money than Andrew Wiles got for successfully proving Fermat’s Last Theorem. I know I’m not the only one to say this, but I’d like to see a show that requires real skill and isn’t padded out too long. There are some very good British shows (such as The Krypton Factor, Knightmare, The Crystal Maze, Countdown, and Mastermind) from which the US can take a good example.
