“Deal or No Deal” Replaces “1 VS 100″ on CNBC
I know this is completely false most likely, but I am really starting to worry for 1 VS 100’s survival. CNBC will replace 1 VS 100’s Wednesday 9PM ET run with the 50,000th rerun of Deal or No Deal starting on May 2nd. This is in addition to the Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday airing on CNBC and the Monday and Sunday run on NBC. That’s six airings of the show, people. Five of which are currently reruns. How much of this damn show do we need? Look, I can stand Deal or No Deal a bit, but we’re airing the show more or equal to the daily editions. We’re airing the show more than we would air the daily syndicated version. That’s just plain awful. And what the hell is going on with 1 VS 100? We haven’t heard a peep about the show in ages, and it’s really starting to worry me. Especially with Identity’s ratings sagging, 1 VS 100 needs to come back and fast. The media agrees as well. On The Programming Insider from the hugely popular Mediaweek, this was published: “As for Identity at 8 p.m., former occupant 1 vs. 100 was a much stronger option. NBC…where is the renewal for 1 vs. 100 already?” The show is often on the must watch list for the week. It’s amazing how under appreciated the show is. It’s truly a shame, as it’s the best primetime game show since Who Wants to be a Millionaire? back in the 90s. How do you all feel about this?

It’s not crisis time. The last 1 vs. 100 CNBC aired last Wednesday was the Grease show with the possibility to double at the end, which was the last show NBC aired. If we don’t hear anything about 1 vs. 100’s return in a month or two, then that would raise a white flag.
Most of my students enjoy 1 vs. 100 over Deal or No Deal, and next to none care about Identity, if that matters…
You know, a few weeks ago the 1st “season finale” of the show……..SEASON FINALE!
Yes, I know it’s pretty early to end a season, but The website is still there saying it will return soon. Probably next season. I Love 1 vs 100 too, but for crying out loud it will come back! I’m surprised you people are acting like this!
I wouldn’t take this as a sign that “1 vs. 100″ is getting cancelled. After all, I don’t think that they ran “Deal or No Deal” on CNBC while the show was on its breaks from the network schedule last year.
I suspect we’ll see “1 vs. 100″ back before “Identity” comes back for another season. My guess (no inside information) was that they wanted to see how some of their other reality shows did and then decide whether to renew it or not. Based on “Identity”’s performance, I bet “1 vs. 100″ will make the cut.
I also enjoy it a lot and think it’s one of the best since “Millionaire” (“Greed” also comes to mind for me).
My thought was that since there aren’t that many 1 vs 100 episodes, I guess CNBC wants to stop them from being rerun abused. But…instead they’re rerun abusing DoND. I don’t get that decision either
I still enjoy DoND as a guilty pleasure, but I definitely would like to see 1 vs 100 back. If any show could probably have a syndie spin off, it’s that one. It’s a trivia show. If Millionaire and Jeopardy can do well airing 5 days a week, I think 1 vs 100 could too.
As for Identity…meh. Who cares if it’s not renewed.
That’s never been in question, Laurie. It’s just that some people take it as a sign that 1 vs. 100 is in some sort of trouble, and it’s not, really.
If it seems that I’m taking it as a point that the show is in trouble, I apologize, because I’m trying not to make it seem like that. I just think it’s pretty bad that DoND is getting 7 showings a week currently, soon to be six probably, while 1VS100 is getting the shaft completely. Yes, I understand 1VS100 has less episodes. But they are rerunning six episodes of DoND a week currently. They have taped a little over 100 shows. They burn through those much faster than they do 1VS100 if they keep it once a week. Of course I know 1VS100 will be renewed. I think I stated that my beliefs are false in the first line. I’m just saying it’s weird and wrong that 1VS100 is being given the cold shoulder.
Maybe CNBC should take a cue from Tvtropolis in Canada which airs 2 past episodes of Deal or No Deal. 1 episode on Saturday and 1 episode on Sunday. Fewer re-runs = less abuse of a great show. BTW, we don’t even get to see these re-runs as they have the blackout here in Canada and put on the CNBC World feed. lame.
Why would they actually rerun a show like 1 vs. 100 when they can rerun a show where the contestant’s IQs are 24?
The DoND repeats on CNBC don’t bother me because…they’re on CNBC. Who’s really watching besides game show geeks like us? NBC does need to follow last year’s example and rest Deal for the summer…let it incubate and create a new hunger for it. As it is, I’m about done with Deal, anyway. Too many obnoxious contestants…too much stunting. I do think they’ll renew 1 vs 100 for the fall. It’s the best show NBC has run on Fridays in a long time.
I’m getting Millionaire-esque DOND fatigue, and it’s not from all the CNBC repeats…it’s on far too much and often for too long (2-hour episodes, please…). Rest the show, go back to contestants with real lives and real stories to tell, and stop the stunt casting…
1 vs. 100 must be safe or NBC would not allow them to release a DVD game and a home electronic game. Really, Alex, you need to chill a bit and start watching some Lost episodes. That’s an example of a network not squandering a hit show.
Are there any more 60-minute editions of 1 vs. 100 (pronounced “One Versus 100″) scheduled to
be telecast by NBC in the future? Should Bob (Farce of the Penguins, Full House, Dirty Work) Saget return to series television any time soon? Can 1 vs 100 survive without Saget? Will Dermot
O’Leary fill in Saget’s shoes as the new host of the U.S. version of 1 vs. 100?
Regardless of whenever 1 vs. 100 returns to the Peacock Network next fall, I won’t be surprised
if Een Tegen 100 cools down the American invasion. But for how long?

My biggest beef with DOND is just that sometimes the game takes way too damn long. From the obnoxious contestants, the commerical breaks that happen before a case is even opened….Please. Is there any way that NBC could make this show less slow than it is? Not to also mention the supporters that a contestant brings in. I mean, I thought we were playing for a possible $1,000,000 not $100,000! Every time a contestant hits the six-figure mark, one of their supports is also telling them to take the deal. Please let’s just have the contestants play the game on their own and make their own decisions and make the game a little faster.
Now the posts are getting ridiculous…again!
hopefully u peeps know something i dont. the only show worthwhile on fri nites was 1 vs 100. NBC is too busy to give forth any info regarding the status or future of this show. hopefully smarter heads will prevail. next thing u know they will probably cancell fri night lights which is the most down to earth show this season.
