Thanks to reader Rob Hoffmann who gave us a recap of the Deal or No Deal episode played on Oprah. I wouldn’t put this up usually, but NBC sent me a video of it, and it’s a geniune game of Deal with twelve cases instead of 26. The set was recreated for the show and they even brought the Banker up. It was quite impressive. We’re just going to give you a recap of the actual game, not the happenings after. Before we hear complaints as well, Oprah was playing for an audience member chosen after the game was played so the Banker was overly generous on purpose. Did it work? Find out after the break. Also, watch the end of the game here.
Oprah is facing 12 cases (because Howie wasn’t allowed to carry all 26 on from L.A.)… Michele and Anthony Falco are in the audience, Michele is briefly interviewed before the game…
The Board:
$0.01
$100
$500
$1,000
$2,500
$5,000
$10,000
$15,000
$25,000
$50,000
$75,000
$100,000
Oprah picks #8 (Leyla) because it’s her favorite number – and it comes out that Oprah’s dog is named Leyla as well.
Round 1 (3 cases):
(11 - Janelle) 100K – at least it’s not rigged! Oprah says “I was going to pick that one!”
(5 - Lauren) 100
(4 – Patricia, from Chicago!) .01
Took out the bottom 2 and top one. Banker offers $3,000. NO DEAL.
Round 2 (2 cases):
(10 - Aubrie) 2500
Oprah: “Do the models know [what’s in the cases]?”
Howie: “No, they’re put there by a third party that we’re never invited to.”
(7 - Alike) 10K
Two out from the middle of the board. Banker offers $12,000. NO DEAL.
Round 3 (one case per round from here):
(6 - Marisa) 50K
Ouch. Banker’s generous and offers $19,000. NO DEAL. Michele Falco, when asked for a number, passes — however, hubby Anthony suggests Oprah take #2. She does…
Round 4:
(2 - Stacey) 15K
Not bad… banker’s generosity grows, offer of $29,000. NO DEAL.
Round 5:
(3 - Anya) 1K
Leaves 500, 5K, 25K, 75K… offer is $34,000. NO DEAL.
Round 6:
(12 - Brooke) 500
Worst-case is now $5,000… offer is $42,000.
Oprah: “What would you do, Howie?”
Howie: “I’d host.”
NO DEAL.
Round 7:
(9 - Tameka) 25K
It’s a coin-toss between 5K and 75K… banker’s [loaded] offer is $50,000. After much anguish, the audience talks Oprah into a NO DEAL.
Howie opens case 8 and finds… $5,000. Case 1 (Claudia) had the $75,000. In terms of game play, definitely a Banker Win.

Come on guys. This is OPRAH we’re talking about here. She has episodes dedicated to giving away her “Favorite Things”. She gave away a mess of Pontiac G6s, for pete’s sake! She’s notoriously generous with other people’s stuff! I wouldn’t be surprised if she had her own reality show where she just gives away luxury items (perhaps on HSN). I’d want to be a contestant on that show.

12 cases? Unless you had a different board with more money attached to it or a top prize of $500,000, very unlikely. BTW, what is the 2nd reality show ABC has for Oprah?
