Awesome news for Deal or No Deal fans and decent news for the 1 VS 100 crowd. NBC announced their Fall 2007 schedule and both Deal or No Deal and 1 VS 100 have been renewed, albeit 1 VS 100 does not have many episodes which is somewhat depressing. NBC is going back to two nights a week of new Deal or No Deal, keeping it in its Monday 8PM ET time slot and shoving it on Wednesdays at 8PM ET as well. 1 VS 100 will regain its Friday 8PM ET time slot it’s deserved since Identity damaged our retinas. However, this is only for eight weeks. After that, NBC will debut its new game game The Singing Bee, where contestants will have to sing song lyrics as a band plays and continue to sing them even as the band stops. This show has six episodes and what happens after that is anyone’s guess. Not a bad schedule overall, but I’m hoping we can at least get a few more 1 VS 100 episodes. The eight episodes isn’t exactly a huge boost of confidence, which is shocking since at least 50% of NBC’s lineup gets worse ratings than Bob Saget’s amazing show. I’d comment on the Deal or No Deal time slots but it’s sure to change 50,000 times during the season. And I officially declare the music game show war on! We have The Singing Bee here, I’ve seen items hovering around for a show Sing for a Million, and we might have Name That Tune. Tomorrow will be ABC.

You know, this may be the start of the vocal/talent subgenre of game shows. This would be perfect for vocal giants like Bonnie Tyler, Kelly Clarkson, etc. I would be surprised if Simon Cowell was involved in any of these shows.

It wouldn’t surprise me if NBC pulls one of the Deals once it gets wind of what the other networks will air. Two airings a week are too much — one is enough.
I like NBC using the Friday night at 8p slot to experiment with “family-style” games — if *1 vs. 100* does well when it returns, it will return again after *Singing Bee* finishes its run.

That sounds pretty decent. And with there being a couple more syndicated games, it looks like the genre could finally pick itself back up…

That’s right folks. To quote the song, “We’ve got to get right back to where we started from.” Game shows don’t have to be about stupidity, sex, and backstabbing. They are meant to be enjoyed by the entire family. That’s why WOF, J!, and TPIR are still around. Hopefully, the entire family can “Come Home to NBC” (an actual slogan, BTW).

DOND has become so mundane that twice a week is too much. Most people have been doing really bad lately. Frankly, I think the show would completely tank in the ratings if it weren’t for the models.

SINGING BEE? Oh man I can already smell canceled for that show. I seriously doubt it will return for more epoisodes. Singing shows dont really last. Only successful one is the original, American Idol. They should bring back The Gong Show and… oh wait they already did. America’s Got Talent. Heh heh nevermind. Anyway, I dont think Singing Bee will last in my opinion.

Well, you never know. There’s a game similar to “Singing Bee” on “Mega Match” (a game show from Venezuela). Check it out on your local Telefutura station Saturdays at noon.

I’m willing to bet that Singing Bee won’t make it to the full six episodes. In fact, I’m hoping that it will share the same fate with The Rich List-one and done. But good to see DoND is coming back, which didn’t surprise me.

Hey I just had a thought. Since this is going to be an NBC game show, how much do you want to bet that the intro logo will be just like Deal, 100 and Identity will enter the show (by going through one of the letters)?
Maybe it will be through a lower case ‘i’

I call a conveniently-placed musical note in the logo for that effect…
